just to finish on my last point of calzaghe being MUCH better than jirov...i seemt o remember in that fight jirov gave toney so many opportunities to counterpunch him because he didnt exactly use hes brain. There wasnt much method to the all out attack and he was walking on to an awful lot. Calzaghe obviously wouldnt have just one gear going forward and not using hes head---hes also got that ability to adapt, so if toney was countering him well early, hed switch it up a bit and win the rounds for a decision. I like both these guys so glad the poll is close.

I picked Calzaghe, Toney liked to control the pace and these would be a problem for himas Joe would be in his face all night long, andalthough JC wont be able to hurt Toney in anyway, he is quicker and would rack up points.

Toneys slick defence and right hand wouldnt make Joe look good, in fact I dont see him looking good in this fight, but I do see him winning a decision.

calzaghe would beat toney bec he is the smarter fighter...toney's right hook wont connect to the body bec of calzaghe's shoulder movement.

JC would just move back and forth as use his handspeed to win rounds.

The 168 pound version of James Toney is quicker than JC. Just watch Toney-Barkley or Toney-Littles.

Toney is extremely smart inside the ropes, sets traps,a controls tempo....Why is it so obvious JC being smarter?

Problem is, some guys only know JT from the higher weights and only marginally or not at all from SM.

Toney was a mediocre world champion in every class he won a title in.

Nothing needs to be analysed, you can just state the obvious. Calzaghe beats these guys on off days.

    LOL.

The mileage Joe has gotten out of struggling with old men, bums, and average fighters .. it is unbelievable. Of course it is ESB. Fortunately it is the last place anyone would look to find polls mirroring the opinions of athletes.

I'd choose James Toney without any hesitation.

Didnt Toney have several fights he threw over 1000 punches?

How do you see Calzaghe outworking him? We are talking about Toney at 168 not at heavy.

Ive only seen a little bit of Toney from the old days, so naturally I wouldnt make a pick or comment on the fight.

But it is pretty obvious from all these statements that a lot of people also never seen him and are just imagining a smaller heavyweight Toney and basing their picks from there.

He temporarilly had some kind of record on compubox, back when it was relatively new. It is an ok stat, but nothing overly impressive. Cannot remember the exact numbers though. Nothing Calzaghe like. The accuracy wasn't bad though.

Some people just watch the Jones/Toney fight and think Calzaghe will do the same, no, Calzaghe is not on a prime Jones level.

    LOL...

Jones put his career defining Virtuoso against P4P the best Toney.

Clazgahe did it against Jeff Lacy...big difference.
