The WBA will most likely sanction an "Interim Champion" bout between Ruiz and Meehan or Chagaev. You realize there are some Divisions where the WBA has THREE different "Champions". It is a joke.
He jumped up in the rankings to #3-4 in Oct 2007 immediately after he brutally KTFO'd Davarryl (Going to Sleep) Williamson. He had 2 more quick KO wins since and has been rated #1 since Aug 2008 (nearly 1 year now) If that's not enough reason, he's 39 years old and running out of time, he's a good guy in the sport and IMO he should have gotten the nod against Lamon Brewster for the WBO strap some years back.
boytsov ko'd bidenko who was quiet high in the wba ratings where would he rank now id rather see him fight for a belt than ruiz
Williamson KO was indeed brutal. I guess Meehan would be refreshing challenger for change, but I have always liked idea of actually fighting for a mandatory position. Why not to have Ruiz/Chagaev against Meehan for the position.
From what I read on their regulations, the likely scenario that I see is Valuev given "Super Champion" status, otherwise he would be stripped Aug 30 if he doesn't face Ruiz. Ruiz and Chagaev fight again for the regular (or interim) title, but I'm not so sure Chagaev is ready to get back in the ring yet. If Chagaev says he's not available, then Meehan faces Ruiz instead. This scenario would also open up Valuev for Haye perhaps. But with the WBA "rules" and how they decide to follow or not follow them, along with the payoffs of Don King/Sauerland and the legal pressure from camps on all sides against the WBA, anything is possible. It's a mess any way you look at it and they still don't clean it up.
shouldn't wlad's utter domination of chagaev cause the WBA to think they might not want to rate him the #1 challenger????? how can meehan be anybody's 1,2, or 3 challenger?? wba is the biggest joke running among the belts at hw and that's pretty bad
so how does Haye get in there? Isnt time up for Valuev to face a mand? What a mess. I love how the WBA just moves guys around time after time to fit their agenda:nut
Well if the fight was sanctioned by the WBA he'd definitely drop to #6 at least, but since it wasn't and he never lost his belt in the ring they put him at #1, and yeah that pushes Meehan down....rightfully or not.
If Valuev gets elevated to Super Champion or given some other type of exemption, he could face Haye. Otherwise he should be stripped Aug 30th for not facing Ruiz. I think we both know Valuev/Ruiz wouldn't happen by then, not enough time for contracts and training camps. It is a mess, I think its 50% the WBA making their agenda (sanctioning fee's/special permits) and 50% trying to avoid lawsuits from promoters.
I'm not sure how to take that comment :huh I'm not sure I'd want to be a part of their circus, but if the cut was juicy enough....what the heck, a job in boxing could be interesting
