I'm starting to wonder. I guess HBO doesn't have enough money for Goosen to surrender his senses yet? :think
I'll never forget it. I'd been looking forward to it - had bought into the Miranda hype big time and was impressed with what I'd seen of Pavlik, too. It was absolute domination. You're seriously going to take the position that Miranda threw in that fight the same way he had against Gibbs, Green, even Abraham the first time? :blood
Miranda threw desperate "get off me" arm punches. Pavlik moida'ed him from the opening bell until the bitter end.
:huh Did you even see that fight? Those guys were unloading on each other constantly. Here, I'll help you out, check out the end of round 1, Miranda tees off on Pavlik three full-on right hands in a row:
Thanks! :good I'm seeing a whole lot of me being proven right. Miranda does not know how to get off while backing up. Go ahead and give me a minute:second count of Miranda landing a single power punch that isn't a weak, flailing arm punch or his forearm slapping against the back of Kelly's head.
Miranda would finish each round hard. He hit Pav with a lot of power shots. Pav just threw more, had more power, and took Miranda out of his game plan. Pav did get hit though, just watch round 3 or 4, Miranda hit Pav with 3 rights in a row and Pav just smiled at him.
Also check out 7:42, Miranda lands a huge right hand straight on Pavlik's chin, Pavlik just stands there and lets him throw another one, eats it right up and continues fighting. Also check out 7:56. Another huge right hook. Also check out 8:08. Miranda ISN'T ON THE BACK FOOT, and he pushes threw two right hands with full body movement, and then a huge upper-cut. Also check out 8:26, where he lands three full-on right hands and a left hook. Also check out the closing seconds of the first round. And that's just the two rounds that YT has handy. At another stage Miranda landed some other shots where Pavlik just stood there and let him tee off. Seriously mate, Pavlik tasted Miranda's power time and time again in that fight.
Exactly! Pavlik had a very audacious fight plan, and he executed it extremely well. However, he did take some heavy fire to pull it off.
Were they hard rights though? Would they have hurt anyone? I feel that all these attempts to give Pavlik credit for taking monster shots from Miranda (which he never did) actually take credit away from the great job he did in scouting the man. You're all actually doing KP a disservice chasing this white whale of him exhibiting great punch resistance that night. It's unnecessary. Nobody's questioning his chin. Kelly has a good chin - it is a known and proven quantity. Just don't use the Miranda fight as an being exemplary of its limits being tested.
