calzaghe was pretty wild coming forward in that fight with hopkins--plus he adapted through the fight anyway. Remember also it was hes first time at LHW and fighting abroad...he walked onto some stuff early on, okok

haha, exactly. calzaghe would be eating counters all night from what is legimately one of the best counter punchers of the same 20 years. Calzaghe threw a lot of punches and his accuracy was very good but he wasted a TON of punches in those flurries. toney would thread the needle threw those punches, picking his spots carefully while calzaghe sometimes threw punches just for the sake of throwing them

toney is less mobile than hopkins and doesnt hold like hopkins does and use the tactics hopkins did. That along with what i mentioned helped slow down calzaghe(early anyway). even then calzaghe landed more than anyone ever on hopkins and tallied up the the rounds!!!

i absolutely feel that calzaghe won that fight (barely, but clearly). but in terms of styles i think toney has got a real good shot; add in the athleticism of his youth and it's at the very least a long night for calzaghe

Again. Calzaghe did not land anything close to what the compubox stats said. Any cursory view of the fight would show that.

Calzaghe tallied up the rounds because Hopkins was inactive, not because he was the better fighter

Toney in his prime is not Toney now. Talking speed, combined with power and great defense.

Hopkins is unmarked at the end of everyone of his fights - glancing shots are still counted under Compubox and regardless of that - Hopkins slipped most of everyones punches, he slipped more of Joe's than any other fighter - but more got through too.

Calzaghe has a small group of nuttick here that thinks he is the GOAT. That guy is one of them. But I guess the fact that more people think that toney would win then thinks that joe would win it must be the other way around.

well your right and the Joe c from the Hop fight wasn't prime either so you can't match him up with a prime toney take a prime joe c from -or 99-2002-03. if your gonna take the best toeny you also got to take the nbest joe C

When you remove Floyd's danglers from your mouth, you actually make some excellent points. Could not agree more with both of these posts. :happy

Tony on the ropes, Calzaghe wailing away but not landing, Toney landing hard counters. Calzaghe knocked out.

You would´ve been surprised, easy win for Toney. Calzaghe doesn´t play in his league. He´s overrated for his win over another overrated Kessler.

That's pretty much how I see it. A late ko, similar to the Jirov fight, Calzaghe's better than Jirov but Toney was a better middle and super middle than he was a cruiser.
