Ben edwards is currently a Super Heavyweight world champ beating American Rick Cheeks Iska winning by KO. Ben Edwards V Rick Cheek Bulldog ACT AUS Nth California Fighting Alliance USA Savage Rick Cheek started the fight in relaxed fashion moving around well avoiding Bens well-known damaging punches landing a quick combination of his own but taking a few legs kicks as well before Ben erupted, landing a devastating over-hand/right hook that echoed into the crowded and vocal room taking the World Title by knock out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhWBa0mXhoM
Nice...we all know he has a great right hand...hes also got a heavy left as well. Lets hope he can get some conditioning going and he could be a force in boxing as well.
He posts on one of the kick boxing forums, and he has said people say he looks unfit etc, but he said he is very fit don't judge a book by it's cover, he said he actually feels sharper with the weight on, he did try trimming down once but felt he lost some snap.
I think that you have to do whatever works for you and a few extra kilos works for some ppl and doesnt for others.
Thats a big call??????? I still haven't seen him against someone who can box yet. Kickboxing don't count...
. we offered out edwards, haumono & hoppa, and they turned it down & it'll take more than ben to stop alex mate i'll tell you that. get ben to take on someone who can punch back and i don't see ben having the the same power, speed and conditioning from rounds 1 to 12.
thats a big call get some1 that can fight back before moving on to Leapai i think kickboxing and k1 only goes to certain rounds.
Promises to be a good match-up. Logically you'd think the experience and boxing ability of Leapai would be big factors here, and Alex has only been stopped once in 20 odd fights. Huge test for Ben's bangability. ...later found through another thread here that Ben's not Leapai's opponent this friday.
Chris McCullen had mention during the Wilson fight "only time Leapai had been stopped was when he was decked from behind the head by Baden Oui" thats the only time Leapai had ever went down.
This is Ben Edwards, I appreciate the faith some people have in me but ive only had 2 boxing fights and i am a long way from fighting someone the caliber of Alex Leapai who i personally reckon is the best fighter in the country. I carry a bit of fat but i train as hard and i am as fit as any heavyweight out there, as the shanemfr said i perform better with the extra weight, its just my bodytype. ...and i hit just as hard with both hands :good
ben, this proves you have brains too..... sensible mate. its very rare for a boxer to be able to match experience with nothing but talent. however, now that youve blown out hoppa, an easy road my be a bit harder. anyway.....good luck with it.....:good
Hey Ben thanks for posting .......Its alway good to have fighters posting :good Are you looking at more fights in boxing or is KB still the number 1 thought?
