Dude, it's not that complicated. Cotto is the naturally bigger man. It only makes sense that they meet at some catchweight. Pacman's ideal weight is probably at 140. Do you see Pacman's team forcing Cotto to drop all the way down to 140? Then how can you expect Pacman to go all the way up to 147 and fight at Cotto's ideal weight?

Understood, but if the fight were to be held at 147, and Cotto were to win, do u honestly think he'll recieve full credit? I hardly think so. If Cotto wasnt the type to come in as a middle weight come fight time, I can understand. Problem is, he does.

Granted, Pac is going after another title, and if he wants it, he should be the one having to sacrifice, but i'm more interested in watching a competitive matchup where both fighters enter the ring 100%, rather than having one balloon up while the other has to dehydrate more than normal.

This is exactly why I was never really all that intruiged by this matchup. Too big a weight difference between the fighters in order for it to be fair to both.

U say the WW "limit" is 147, but isnt WW anywhere between 141-147, with 147 being the limit?

Yeah, but i think Roach tried to make it a factor in the contract that Cotto couldnt weigh in more than a certain limit on fight night, think it was no more than 152, but im not sure exactly. But as i said this was before the fight was official, so dont know if this is still the case. And before anyone asks no i dont have the source, the source was in a old thread dont remember which one though.

Weight wont matter much, stamina does.

Anyways Pac should with based on the stamina factor.

Training in Vegas is a huge advantage for any fighter.

If Cotto trains in Florida hes doomed.

Cotto can balloon all he wants, he's gonna deflate like one when he fights Pac Nov. 14th...

Actually most welterweights step in the ring between 155 and 160. That nothing out of normal

I agree, but most WW's also fight other natural WW's, negating this whole catchweight problem. Dropping 2lbs is nothing compared to the weight disadvantage that Pac is going to have to deal with come fight night.

If Cotto comes in weighing just 151 or 152 pounds on fight night will proof that it was in the contract that Cotto can only balloon up to 152 pounds on fight night in which it be a disgrace to boxing if it does happen in which it's unfair and Pacquiaoo shouldn't get the credit if he wins.

Well, if didn't want to be a weight disadvantage he shouldn't have taken the fight, simple.

Which would be nice if the fight was taking place in New York.

One of the belts has a 10 pound rehydration limit, but I can't remember which one.

People talk about "only 1 or 2 pounds"...
True losing 1 or 2 pounds is easy for your ordinary out or of shape person; but for someone who is in top physical form with very little bodyfat to spare, losing an extra 2 lbs can be a ***** and a half.

Why does this keep coming up over and over again. When Cotto was 15, he weighed about 106 pounds himself. Hell, Calderon beat him in the amateurs.

If this is true then why didn't they just have the fight at 147 and then put a cap on ballooning?

The reason I see why Pac/Roach wanted the fight at 145 was to make sure Cotto didn't balloon up to 160 come fight night.

Why the helll didn't they just do it at 147 and put a cap on it???
