Who did Calzaghe run away from? Williams' team asked for more money for the Pavlik fight and they deserved some more moving up in weight and taking the big risk. Abraham talked a lot of smack and got nothing from team Pavlik for it. Let me remind you, Abraham went through the same guy Pavlik had to go through to make the Taylor fight. Only reason that stopped it and saw Pavlik shine is Abraham suffering a jaw injury and had to go through surgery and was forced to take an easy fight by the IBF before taking a major one. Winky is the only one I agree with because he ran away from a Taylor fight. One thing that pushes all that talk behind is Winky moving up to fight Hopkins, he gave Hopkins a far better fight than Pavlik did.
This guy here is by far the most feared man...****, I would be scared shitless of him myself...I dont want aids!:err
I agree with all but JuanMa...Callebro is gunning for a fight with him and JaunMa, as of this moment, wants no part of him...Given that, I dont see how you can add him to a list of "feared boxer" when Callebro is pushing for a unification bout with him.
Most of the time when there is talk of a fighter being ducked, feared, and avoided, it is usually total bull****. Mosely/Williams is a great example. Considering the current state of disarray in the WBA Williams could make himself Shane's mandatory in 1 or 2 easy fights. Same deal with Pavlik/Abraham. At any point in time Abraham could have forced his way into the WBC or WBO mandatory position in 1 or 2 easy fights. The mandatory system is the time honored and traditional path to a title shot. As long as a fighter refuses to take that path, I refuse to believe he is being avoided.
Your right about Abraham, but then who in his right mind would give up his belt to chase Pavlick. You can't climb any ratings to be a mandatory if you hold a belt. Time ran out and time to move on. Now Abraham is going to fight the best in the 168, while Pavlick is still looking for a fight. Too bad the red colored sentence is not true. Khan and Haye come to mind. Money talks and rankings don't exist how it use to be.
I am a bit of a traditionalist. I would love to see the system change. Sanctioning bodies should rank the other titlists in a given division. The number #1 should be the mandatory every 9 months. Nobody gets in the top 10 without beating a top ten guy. Nobody moves up the top 10 without beating someone higher, unless a guy drops due to a loss. The champ can only defend against the top 5. you could let the champ fight tun-ups, but title defense can only be made against the top 5, and MUST be made every 6 months. This would clear up a ton of bull****.
Wow, those would be great rules to adhere to. Question; how would you rank the WW champs today. Who would you consider the linear champ and then take it from there. Throwing all of this to what you posted would be something else, but again and again, he money would come first in todays boxing era. Sometimes we get lucky and we get real fighters to fight each other for contendership or titles.
