Certainly top 10 all time great and personally I have him at about 5. He's absolutely an amazing fighter and I became a boxing fan primarly because of him.

(hagler and Ali, had something to do with it as well)

Most 'complete' fighter that I have ever seen.

You can usually find fault with every fighter, even the great ones. Duran however, ticks every box - head movement, footwork, angles, craft, power, chin... he had everything.

The only thing that stops him from being the most highly regarded fighter of all time is his indisciplined lifestyle. People often point at his losses, but how many of those losses were down to a lack of ability? Duran's losses, in the main were either from a lack of discipline with his training, or by fighting some of the best guys in history in weightclasses where he had no buisness fighting.

Nah, the best fighter arguably, but not the hardest hitter. Duran was a debilitating puncher no doubt about it, but he was usually more of an accumulation puncher than a one punch kinda guy. Ike Williams, Alexis Arguello, Danny Lopez, Sandy Saddler, Naseem Hamed, Khaosai Galaxy, Sung-Kil Moon, etc were all harder one punch hitters at lower weights than Duran. Guys like Gomez, Zarate, Olivares, Jofre, Borkhorsor, etc. were at least on the same level.

I rate Duran as thee best LW ever with Sweetpea coming in as the closest second place LW/fighter of any weight class that ever existed when comparing the top two fighters of any weight class in boxing history. Ali being the best heavy ever with Louis being ranked as the second best heavy ever doesn't come close to the distacne between Pea and Duran...
