    Ruiz.. Which isn't saying much. Hopefully this won't be the case for years to come.

    Stevenson and Savon were outstanding amateurs. Possibly the best Latino amateurs of all time?

    People hate Ruiz but he is tougher than a cockroach. Show me one other HW that just won't go away.

    He may be a huggy bear but he has an excellent chin, he NEVER backed down from an opponent, and he has an excellent record for a guy who is not that big in the HW division. Not many fighters can say that!

    You left out former Mexican Heavyweight Champion Manuel Ramos .Manuel beat Ernie Terrell, and rocked Joe Frazier pretty good before losing a brief but lively fight.
    There was also Arturo Godoy who lost a split decision to Joe Louis, and Luis Firpo, who knocked Jack Dempsey out of the ring.Any one of those guys would wreck Ruiz or Oquendo.

    Firpo was more than a bit chinny himself, lost to some pretty bad comp, and only had one really good win in his career, against Willard.

    Ramos was a gatekeeper who lucked his way into a fight with Frazier and got his ass knocked out in two. He beat Terrell in a hometown decision when Terrell was at his absolute worst, and to this day people call the decision questionable.

    Godoy might have an argument, but I don't know enough about him. My understanding is that he was similar to Ruiz in a way, doing well in fights due mostly to an unusual fighting style designed to cover his flaws.

    Ruiz is no worldbeater, but to say that Ramos or Firpo would 'wreck' him seems a little wistful to me.
