Well, if the question is Latino HW, then Stevenson should certainly be the choice. The only #1 that cheating fraud Ruiz should ever occupy is the title of worst heavyweight beltholder of all time!!

Well said. That's not a popular opinion, but it is true. Guys who appeared to have more natural talent, like Briggs, Tua, Golota, etc., would love to have Ruiz's titles and earnings.

That's what the backing of Don King will do for you. There's a reason he got favorable treatment from the officials for his illegal tactics - not to mention the undeserved rankings, and gift decisions against Holyfield and Golota.

John Ruiz is not a Latino as he was born in the US. The best of them all is without a doubt the Cubans Stevenson and Savon. This Cuban duo would have easily won professional World Titles and also gone down as HV legends. They were so good that it was not necessary that they would had proven their skills in the pros. Stevenson and Savon were simply unbeateable for a decade and both won 3 Olympic Gold Medals, any of these contenders mentioned here would only dream of this fantastic feat performed by these Cubans. :bart

I wasn't. I believe he was a legitimately better boxer than Ruiz or any of the others to have been mentioned, aside from possibly the amateurs Savon and Stevenson. We'll never really know with them, though. They spent their entire careers fighting much younger, less developed/experienced fighters in a varied form of professional boxing. They certainly seemed to have the makings of top pro Heavyweights, though.

He was good, but he always seemed to come up short. Kind of the opposite or Ruiz, who has a way of maximizing what little he had.

I did not realize you had already brought of Valdez. I was really just trying to get his name in the thread since he is not in the poll.

POST SCRIPT: I really wish Marciano would have fought him.
