I didn't see any evidence of Bowe losing his punch resistance at all. He took bombs from Golota in both fights, and was still standing at the end.

Winky had a really bad night against whats his name early on in his career. His legs were like jello.

But he has faced a lot of big punchers after that and been tagged on the odd occasion and took it fine

I think you're both right to a certain extent: Carl Thompson was easy to hurt and hard to finish off. He had good survival skills and retained his composure when he got hurt, but if you hit him with a good bomb he would short-circuit a bit.

 

how about marcos geraldo,who gave hagler a tough 10 rounder,in his following bout was blown away in a round by caveman lee. geraldo also went the full 10 with SRL but was stopped,also in 1,by tommy hearns. geraldo had 28 career losses,21 inside the limit....he could obviously take a whack,some nights just better than others..

 

Not all hard punches are equal.


One guy can take shots to the chin and temple only to go when he is hit on the top of the head. Another, vice versa.

Some guys have exceptional punch resistance by virtue of their physique and conditioning. The rest are pretty even.

Luck has a lot to do with it.

 

He was knocked down against Holyfield in the third fight from a small check hook, and against Golota in both fights. He was badly hurt in those fights, but he did manage to get up and continue, but he had never been hurt like that in the past.

 

i finishedd johnny tapia's book the other day and he said that the only time he hurt was in one of his early fights (like the 4th or 5th) but other then being stopped by a body shot after his prime, tapia had one of the best chins in boxing history i believe. he took konadu's, barrera's, romero's and soto's shots.

I don't think he saw the left hook from Holyfield, which would explain why he went down, but I guess I see your point with Golota 2. He showed a great chin in the first Golota fight, I saw. Infact, both of them.
