UPDATE! Fight at 147 lbs if Pacquiao wants title

Question is Pacs win will always be questioned were the fight to take place at 145. Those 2 pounds are a bigger disadvantagre to cotto than advantage to Pac. Also if Miguel does make the catchweight he will blow up in weight regardless, every fighter in the world does the same thing.

Pac should go for history with no strings attatched, he has it all to gain.

 

An obvious and pertinent point. The difference is it's Cotto's title and if he wants to weigh 147 (he weighed 146 against Clottey) then he should be allowed to if he is to defend it. Pacman, equally, could weigh what he wanted as long as it's within 147. We could well see an agreement like this in place as it's another selling point for the fight (like it needs any more!) with Pacman going for yet another title:good.

De La Hoya vs BHop was at a catchweight. Hopkins weight 155 and De La Hoya 156.

That fight was for all the middleweight tittles WBC IBF WBO WBA.

To me Cotto doesnt makes sense just for a crappy WBO belt.

 

Weight classes only come in to play when the fight is at the limit in my opinion, this fight is not to be fought at the welter weight limit, it's to be fought at the 145 lbs limit, the semi-juinior welter/semi welterweight limit. Weight classes are weight classes, there is no bending of the rules, catch weights are catch weights for a reason, they ARE NOT weight classes.

 

But this is something we already knew.

 

I'm sensing FEAR! He's not confident he can beat PACMAN, because if he is, that title won't be problem risking. He doesn't wanna meet PACMAN in the FAIR ZONE! ***** BIG MAN (?) :hat

Pac should fight Cotto at 147 and just take an even bigger cut of the purse.

Its obvious that Cotto wants as much of a size advantage as he can get, although he already has a huge one. So if he wants even more, give it to him but make him pay

 

To solve this problem WBO should just create a WW superchamp and a WW regular champ. One is on the line and other not.

 

so if cotto weighs 145 146 or 147 its still a tittle match the only difference is if he was to lose weighing 145 he would have an exscuse,so 146 or 147 would mean no exscuse :good
