Obviously no.1 is all Wilfredo Gomez but... no.2 spot is interesting because its pretty much a H2H between Erik Morales vs Jeff Fenech. Morales was a beast at 122lbs, he beats junior jones, MAB and a few other good but not great fighter. Fenech had a shorter stint there, but beat Zaragoza and Zarate. Despite's Fenech's power, i don't see him knocking out Morales. Morales would take some rounds, but fenech's workrate i think overcomes El terrible's one. I think Fenech is no.2 Morales 3
Zarate was all but done and at his best as a Bantamweight. I give it to Morales. He beat a peak Barrera, a good version of Junior Jones, and beat a past prime Zaragoza despite being relatively inexperienced.
Fenech would beat Morales..but I think its fair to say that Erik has him for resume at the weight. Zarate was past it..Payakaron was a little more promise then substance at that stage plus had partied himself into poor fitness leading up until that fight. Richardson was a bantam. Zaragoza was arguably pre-prime in a technical sense against Fenech..I think all things considered Morales and Jeff faced versions of Zaragoza almost on par. Dan was definitely physically better when he fought Fenech, faster and had better stamina. But the Zaragoza that fought Morales was more well rounded and wiley, he looked like he had developed his style to the best of his ability deal with his shortcomings like his age and lack of pop. Overall Morales had the better names and unified...that more then makes up for the fairly small gulf I have between them in H2H ability.
MAB, he got robbed in the first Morales fight, terrible decision and his resume is far better at 122 and his reign far longer than Morales.
