Hmmmm.... Last I checked, Paul Williams is the guy with the HBO date while Pavlik will be fighting on a Top Rank [read properly: Short Money] PPV...
there is no right or wrong it's business. you know how many fights fans don't get to see b/c of business. Smarten up man.
Whats the HBO date have to do with anything? Pavlik will fight on Top Rank more than likely because Paul and Goosen will price themselves out of a for sure ass whipping only for them to claim victory and say Pavlik ducked us, only for idiots like you to hear that and agree.
yup. he's fighting the champ at 160 in atlantic city, where 80-90% of the gate will be pavlik fans, and goossen needs that much? it just shows that they consider this a very, very risky fight. it's a joke, though, because it's making paul look bad. he was always the guy talking about taking on anybody, any time, any place and now he has a chance to become middleweight champ of the world and they're haggling over money? i don't get it. if paul really wants to fight, he needs to tell goossen to shove it. he's ruining paul's rep.
What are you guys talking about ... team Williams tried before HBO got into it and team Pavlik and TopRank turned it down, it was HBO who offered the money for the fight to happen, but if Williams turns it down ... he still has options to fight ... he has a secure date in Oct. Pavlik doesn't - Pavlik would be out of a fight on HBO for the rest of the year because TopRank is cherry picking. No Mora No Abraham No Sturm - if he fights Sturm he wouldn't make as much money as he would fighting Williams No body Maybe Martinez but who's actually going to tune in for that? Pavlik's fan base is good, but is very limited to OH and NJ ... Williams has a solid base down south and on the west coast.
And that's worth $2.5m out of a $3.75m total purse? On your ****ing bike. It's not as if Pavlik can't get on HBO anyway; they have approved four possible fighters to get their asses handed to them on HBO.
Strum Williams Mora Martinez who else? Who's going to produce more money than Williams? ... who would be a bigger win if he were to get the W?
that simple way of thinking is not what is relevant. and i'm talking about who beat who. Market value, what have you done for me lately.
Stick to the point. Pavlik does not "need" PW to get on HBO. That's the only justification you and Pdub's other botty boys on this thread have offered for him getting a large split. And it's false. So let me ask you again: do you live on planet Earth, or do you think two-thirds is a fair split in PW's favour?
dont tell me to smarten up. if you don't think it's a problem that fans can't see great fights because of what you call "business", then you're not a real boxing fan.
More people want to see Williams after he destroyed Winky Wright ... than Pavlik who just won against a cab driver after losing to Hopkins and no matter if Hopkins is a legend or not ... he had everything in his favor - except skill and heart ... his biggest win is still Jermain Taylor ... and Jermain hasn't done anything since losing to Pavlik and neither has Pavlik there aren't any big names left in 160 other than some current or former junior middleweight champions ... Sturm isn't coming to fight Abraham moved up Mora's available but they're scared ...
This is a classic example of exactly what is wrong with boxing. I dislike the UFC, but their matchmaking ability is unprecedented. Too many cooks in the kitchen in boxing, and too many egos. And that last comment has nothing to do with the fighters involved.
Williams was offered fair money. HBO wants the fight. They will not be happy if Williams turns it down. I think they probably feel the same way Dan Rafael does. They look at it from their own business perspective. They can tell if Goosen is pricing the fight to not happen. With the $1.75 and partial gate, that is TWICE Pdub's best purse to date. Again, if they turn this down, I think HBO will not be happy.
