Like I said before, we need to know what HBO is offering for Williams/Dzindiruk before we can make any accurate judgement on Goossen's negotiating power and whether or not they are doing their fighter justice. If HBO is willing to pay Paul near Pavlik money for the Dzindiruk fight, maybe their argument is valid. If it's significantly less, than Arum definitely has more leverage.
well they still have the date. So not only what HBO offers then take in to account the sponsirship money. Sponsers pay more for An HBO world championship boxing telecast or and independant top rank PPV? if you was president of advertising for tecate...which on you rolling with?
I understand your point, and the Dzindurik fight is the smarter option in some ways. However, it would still mean that Williams took the easier and less dangerous fight.
**** does that have to do with anything... goosen is still going to negotiate how he wants to... that doesnt change anything williams been said he would fight pavlik and I doubt pavlik has any problem fighting williams so once again... it falls on the shoulders of the promoters shane was #1 option pavlik was #2 option dzinzurik was #3 option clottey will probably be #4 so be patient and wait... dog stfu.. you the biggest hater on this forum.... you hate all black fighters.. zip that **** up obviously williams / dzindiruk wouldnt be making half of what pavlik williams was.... nobody trying to watch sergie dzindiruk.. only reason people will want to see him is because he could potentially be someone who beats paul williams... everyone wants this fight... the only thing holding it back are the promoters WHO WILL IRON IT OUT by wednesday
Great question. And fortunately, I am fairly well equipped to answer it. I own a boxing apparel company, and we are faced with this question often. We were actually one of the title sponsors of Andre Ward's last fight in Oakland. Truthfully, 9 out of 10 leads we received from the sponsorship of that fight came from people who were there in person at the event, not from people who saw our logo on Showtime, even though it was on the ring mat. That being said, as a potential sponsor, I would rather spend my money for a Pavlik-Williams fight based solely on the large number of people in attendance at the event. Even if Kelly's fight in on independent PPV, he will still pack the Boardwalk Hall with 8,000 plus fans even if he was fighting me. Based on recent historical evidence, Williams/Dzindiruk will be lucky to draw 3,000 fans wherever they hold the fight. That being said, I think Goossen and Williams may make more with a 50/50 split of the Pavlik-Williams sponsorship revenue than they would with 80% of the Williams-Dzindiruk. Just something else to take into consideration. I still think Williams should get 50-50 of everything but live gate, and I also think he has a good chance to win the fight.
I hope you're right. It's frusterating because we all want to see this fight and it's not looking good right now.
Cotto, Mosley and Clottey are about as realistic for Williams as Bute, Kessler and Sturm are for Pavlik.
My company is fairly unique, though. I'm sure other advertisers would much rather have HBO coverage, although sometimes that can be deceiving. Depending on camera angles, etc, your logo/message may barely be seen on tv, making the larger television audience on HBO kind of a moot point.
Really???? Mosley, Taylor, Hopkins, Bradley, they all look very black to me.. and I admire and respect them among other black fighters... So, how about you kiss my ass and stick your little race card up your ass?? :good
its been SEVEN DAYS... between 2 promoters who really dont like to do business with each other.... I predicted it be done by next week the first time i heard about this.. you guys are being extremely impatient... cotto is pretty unrealistic mosley... fairly but not so much clottey is very realistic... clottey wanted williams after cotto but williams was trying to do something bigger
