There's only one reason, a robbery, nothing else. Valuev is the worst "champion" ever.

If Valuev pumps his jab effectively, gets Haye into the later rounds and uses his size to full advantage I could see him beating Haye. Haye is no defensive master and has only average footwork.

I still favor Haye but an upset is hardly out of the question.

valuev did look good against liakhovich, but liakhovich was pretty awful that night- and a completely different style to haye. i'd like to see haye get the KO just to get rid of valuev and it would make his next fight a pretty big draw

Problem is Valuev likely will get a rematch if he loses. This is a voluntary defense.

Boxinginsider.com will have an interview with Barrett next week, discussing his take on Valuev - Haye. Should be interesting to get his view as he has fought both men.

That's the thing about Valuev...most of his career was spent just doing enough boxing to win and throwing nothing but arm shots. When he actually got pissed enough to put leverage on his shots, he could really crack. He's never had the mentality to be an aggressive blood and guts fighter though- too much of a nice guy and he views boxing as simply a way to get rich.

If I were Haye, I'd be careful about how much trash talking I did. Valuev may be shot, but running the risk of genuinely getting under Valuev's skin would still be a stupid, stupid move on Haye's behalf.

Thing is though Haye would look like a complete buffoon now if he DID NOT trash talk on his way up to the Valuev fight. I guess Haye's YouTube fans expect that of him. You know, all the "caveman", "hairy", "ugly" BS that a guy like Valuev probably heard from kindergarden age on already and by now is completely immune against. Most certainly that will give Valuev all the motivation he needs during camp.

I hope Valuev didn't collect a lot of ring rust and comes in a tad lighter in this than in previous fights, so he has enough stamina to plod after Haye like a slow but giant tank in the 2nd half of the fight.

I think Haye may struggle with the size disparity and workrate of Valuev. However, Haye's reflexes and speed and a great tool and if he can get in close and unload combinations, then he may just have enough to make this interesting.

If I was Valuev then in the half of the fight the gameplan wouldn't be trying to counter Haye once he tries to come close, but simply to grab, hug and lean on him. Doing a nice 350lbs squash & squeeze. After a good six rounds of this Haye will be as agile and dangerous as an empty wet paper bag.
