slap yourself then look up his record and also watch his fights.
The man was ahead of everyone around him skillwise.
Not to mention basically the closest thing you can get to a perfect fighter.

I have I looked at his record, I've seen him fight at Middleweight. Fantastic fighter, but I feel he is overated at Middleweight. At Welterweight, no question he had the skills and was the perfect fighter, but at Middleweight I don't think so.

No I was talking about I have seen him fight at Middleweight, not at Welterweight. I've only read what Boxing historans have talked about when he was at Welterweight.

Okay -- I'm up for this thread!

Arthur Abraham is a joke. Enrique Ornelas or Raymond Joval would be a step up compared to most of his title defenses. Anyone who believes that Pavlik ducked this clown should be required by law to get a ****ing lobotomy!

Joe Calzaghe is not an all time great. If he would have been based in the USA and honestly tried to fight the best, he would have 5 or 6 losses, and may never have held a title.

Floyd Mayweather is an over rated cherry picker.

You're really veering off course here. First, your quote about 90 people not competing with the top 5 in any sport... c'mon... that's ridiculous. Guys fresh up from the minors get base hits or score goals (or strike out or make saves) on top pros ALL THE TIME.

Your point about # of relevant wins is a fair one, though (keeping in mind there used to be way more active pro fighters in the past). But you didn't say that the records were overrated, you said the fighter was overrated. BIG difference. Previous poster is right - if you don't have specific examples you can back up, you're making a general point about records that has no bearing on particular boxers.

And if a guy cleans out his division (or more) over a number of years, that's not diminished by extra padding - he still did the hard work. Maybe there isn't much qualitative difference between 120-5 and 46-5, but don't say the 120-5 guy is overrated without considering his best wins. And that's not even considering the extra wear and tear of such a busy schedule.
