Roach: "We Don't Need To Fight Cotto For No Title"

Well if anything these comments by Freddie disprove one thing that Manny's biggest supporters have been claiming. Manny does need Cotto. People are syaing that Cotto should give in to pacquiao's demands because manny is the draw etc etc etc. Truth is Cotto has something Manny wants and Manny has to willing to meet some of Cotto's demands as well.

 

If he fights at 147 then it should be for a title, otherwise Roach should shut his mouth. Roach wants to have his cake and eat it too.

 

145 is within the WW limit so the title should be on the line. If Cotto really needs to come in at 147 in order to defend his title he should just come in at 147 and forfeit the monetary penalty as stipulated in the contract. End of story.

 

WW is anywhere between 141-147. Just because every fighter decides not to cut more weight, but instead come in at the absolute limit, doesnt mean that 145 isnt within WW limits.

 

Mosley also has something that Manny wants. Cotto isnt the only fighter out there with a WW title.

You cant fight for a welterweight title when the fight isnt at welterweight. Simple as that. If he's so bothered whats 2lbs? I personally believe pac will KO cotto even at 147

 

So then drop this fight and make the fight with Mosley. You wanna ***** and complain that you don't need Cotto then prove it. Make take another fight.

 

Technically welterweight means "under 147". Divisions (except 200+) have maximums, not minimums.

 

Cotto needs this fight more than Pac does...Pac can just fight Mosley and that would leave Cotto with Clottey 2 or Berto which is a huge step back...this would be Cotto's biggest payday ever and he not gonna take over a belt that doent mean ****....Cotto is crazy.....PUT THE BELT UP

 

You just CANT force the title to be on the line on a catchweight.
You can ask for it but CANT FORCE it.

 

Actually it means up to 147. If you don't want the guy to weigh up to 147 then you are not allowing him his full potential.

To be honest I don't think that the 2 pounds will make a difference. I'm just annoyed at the bitchiness that manny and roach are putting up in these negotiations.

As a fan you can not argue that the 2 pounds don't make a difference and then also argue that Manny is justified in asking for them. How can you justify asking for somethign that is irrelevant?
