Yep -- I think it's almost a done deal. Ya don't get those kind of details on stuff that isn't very close to done. The problem is Rick Reeno is not very credible; tons of mistakes in his stuff.

The same **** just the other way around. What's up with Haye backing out of signed fights because he didn't raise the money from his TV promoter or PPV he thought he would ? Where is there "you want to fight the BEST, THE champion, then you have to do it FOR FREE! Or you are ducking him !!!!!" there ?

It's a joke Pav fans demand from an established name in Williams to go that route, but it's not astonishing at all seeing they asked Arthur Abraham to drop his belt and fight an eliminator and then for free too. Pav fans live in their own world, where he rules supreme, is absolutely unfreakingbeatable, owns each and everyone from Mayweather to Lennox Lewis, and should get 99,995% of each purse, of course 100% of the gate, promotional money, and hey, of course the other fighter has to pay him 10% of his career revenues as incentive.

Split the f*cking gate, each fighter gets 1.5 millions, plus a bonus of .75mio for the winner.

Other suggestion, f*ck Kelly Pavlik with a telephone pole, throw him back to his own PPV, and forget his name. He is dead cold after his loss to Hopkins, talking **** on the SMW tourney, and refusing to fight name fighters he doesn't dwarf in size and power.

    New developments.

Apparently, HBO are offering up to $2m for the Williams - Dzinziruk fight. That's a surprisingly high offer, and I'm very skeptical. If it's correct, PW will probably take $1.2m plus extras, and against Pavlik he's making 1.75 plus a fraction of the extras (which probably come to no more than $3m in all). Basically, he's making roughly 500-800 Gs more fighting Pavlik than he is someone else. That's not great money.

Interestingly, the article mentions four promoters, ALL FOUR of whom confirm that Williams is getting a very fair offer, and isn't the draw in this one.

If Williams really wants the fight, if he really wants to be middleweight champion and really believes he can win the fight, it's a no-brainer for his team to get the deal done.

Whether or not the Pavlik fight is made, Williams will be fighting on October 3 on HBO. Pavlik may or may not appear on an alternate HBO date in 2009. If Williams fights WBO junior middleweight champion Sergei Dzinziruk on the October date, sources have told me that HBO would offer up $2 million for the fight. I’m told the current deal for Pavlik [at the moment] is not significantly higher than the overall number that Williams would make for Dzinziruk. Pavlik’s alternate options include Sergio Martinez and Winky Wright. I should disclose that Martinez is very close to finalizing a deal to fight Christophe Canclaux in France.

I'm surprised about that, since HBO offered the same for Pavlik vs. Sturm which is a bigger fight. It also means that Williams can make some decent money elsewhere.

honestly that was my whole point. all this crazy back and forth, I just think PW is a budding star with his own market value and a good promoter who has invested in him. They have a date on HBO and if Kelly ditched the list of opponents and said get me Williams and they want to fight on his date then be fair. It's a big risk for Paul. 50% of everthing except the gate sounds fair to me.

I hope it does fall apart.

Let P-will fight DZ and Pavlik can fight whoever.

Honestly if Pavlik instead face Wright, i believe Wright can win it. I could see Wright do to Pavlik the way he did to Trinidad. Wright could be like Hopkins and fight like a young fighter by easily beating Pavlik. Wright style is way wrong for Pavlik imo. Pavlik is not like Williams that will throw every punch from every angles. And Pavlik reach is not 82.
