a couple of things you forgot to mention though Roy Jones Jr is just a ****ing out right legend who dominated everybody there was nobody on his level so his mandotatorys well it kinda explains itself.

Today with the Heavyweights well look at the divison its not the Klitschkos fault they just happen to be stuck in a era in which there isnt alot of talent.

if Ring is going to have a title they should enforce Mandatorys against the fighters they have rated in that position to fight for that title.

In history you can not be remembered as a champion without a belt.

because its above the light welterweight limit of 140 which makes it a welterweight fight ...

and considering that Miguel is the WBO welterweight champion, it only makes sense that he put it on the line.

everyone else has put their titles on the line against him ... 2 pounds doesn't take away from the fact that this is a welterweight fight.

Miguel should put that strap on the line.

There are some exceptions like say Ward and or Agustus who if he didn't clown around so much and trained much harder could have been a champ.

    Ezzard Charles at 175 lbs.

The greatest LHW in the history of boxing, and he never held a belt at the weight. ;)

You need something to say that you are the best.

95% of the belt holders aren't the best anyways.....the people know who the best is... thats why i say the name its self is more important then the actual belt

Maybe to most fans they are pointless, but definitely not to most fighters.

Every sport has some type of title that you train your damness to attain. Where are you going with this. Yes, too many titles, but you need a title to define who and what you accomplished in the sport. Olympic gold, NBA title, NFL championship, etc. Why not boxing? I too am fed up with all these titles that come out like weeds. WBA, WBC, IBF, and the WBO and that is it. NABF and the USBA are titles to get you rated to the top five. I don't think it goes like that anymore. Khan!

The belts have a point because its to show that Pac can be a welterweight champion should he win ... it would add more drama to the welterweight division _

There are more, but you have to be a special and gifted fighter to be remembered.

They are a promoter's dream. Also, it's the whole point in competing at the top level in any sport- to become the best. Unfortunately in boxing we have fratured titles. I'll use America as an example: can you imagine if 4 (say 5 if you include the Ring belt) teams shared the NBA Championship? People wouldn't accept it:good.
