It's not a matter of confidence at all, that's ridiculous..The man is a world champ who's been in with world class opponents like Mosley, Judah, Clottey, etc. If you think he's "scared" of Pac, you're sadly mistaken..It's simply a matter of Cotto saying if you want my title so bad, come and get it...and this notion that Cotto needs Pac is stupid anyway, he can fight Floyd, rematch Mosley, or even fight Marquez should he win...

simple, because he doesnt want to pay the very costly sanctioning fee for a fight thats not at 147lbs....

    Right.

Sides does the belt even matter? Cotto isn't the top WW right now (although you can argue he is) so picking up a trinket title isn't that important.

so would you, or any one else on esb, pay the sanctioning fees of 300,000 or 400,000 (not sure) to put it on the line for a fight at a "CATCH WEIGHT?"

Name me some other champions who fought a smaller man at a catch weight within their championship weight limits who did not put the belt on the line?

It's a little more than 100K...and on top of that, you gotta remember Cotto is being sued by Evangelista Cotto and in all likely scenarios will meet a multimillion dollar fine if he comes a pound over weight.

A lot of different toss us going on right now. TRULY if Arum cared that much, He would pay the fee himself and get this whole thing overwith.

    Harder than it looks Buck.

    (boxing is a scene)

"As part of the deal to get the Pacquiao fight, Cotto extended his current contract with Top Rank through the end of 2011. Cotto's contract was going to expire at the end of the year and there were rumors that he might jump ship to another promoter.

'It was one of the clauses in finalizing the deal. I have been with them since the beginning of my career and I'm happy with them,' Cotto said."

Arum must have promised Cotto, Pacquiao to get the contract extension.

Let me explain you something here.
#1. Pacquiao's people went looking for Cotto and made an offer to fight @ 145lbs.

#2. Cotto said yes(not signed yet). Now, they waited until Cotto say yes to a fight where the other fighter will make more money without being the champion to ask him to put the belt on the line.

#3. The organization wants 300K to avail the fight. MAnny said he is willing to pay 30%(HE IS MAKING MORE MONEY)
That means in order for Cotto to put that belt on the line WILL COST HIM 210,000 DOLLARS. DO YOU THINK THAT ITS WORTH IT?????????????
He is better off without the ****ing belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$$$$$$ yes his special that's why mosley and the rest of 140 to 147 lbs fighters wants to fight him:lol:

cotto can fight berto-clottey and mosley and he won't make anything close to what he'll make against pacquiao.
