to be called a welterweight fight..one must weigh 141-147lbs (weigh-in) & and the other one can weigh anywhere below 148 and that the fight fight is contracted within 141-147.

This is all petty bull**** by Cotto anyway. Even if he didn't defend the title against Manny, the WBO would strip him if he lost.

I think it's ridiculous that Pac can't go up 2 extra pounds and guarantee the belt on the line.... if he wants to be welterweight champ maybe he fight at......WELTERWEIGHT aka 147!!!

Cotto is just making a point. It seems that boxing is doing whatever it can to get Pacquiao a seventh "world" title.

Pac requested the fight to be @ 143. it was Cotto who offered 145.

He doesn't have to do that, though. If this fight pushes through, and Cotto refuses to defend the title, the WBO will probably strip him and allow manny to fight for the vacant belt.

Catchweight title fights are nothing new, I don't understand why everyone seems so dumbfounded by the idea. :huh

It might seem petty, but at least I dont see Pac bitching and moaning about how Cotto is gonna outweigh him by damn near 12-15lbs come fight night.
