Robinson by a pretty wide margin. Better in almost all aspects. Maybe even a flash KD in the mid rounds.

Robinson is delighted to fight in a less strict era, hits him in the throat before the bell, then knocks the **** out of him.

    Robinson ko.

Poor old Papke didnt get lucky in the draw here.

He could certainly have given Robinson some problems and might even have taken him later in his career.

    No cigar here though.

Papke was very tough and seemed quite crafty against Ketchel which was by all accounts an uninspired performance by both.

I think he is out of his class here though.

Robinson would exploit the openings and stop Papke.

Robinson takes him apart in my opinion, papke while great for his time is to basic to beat robinson in a direct head to head, with his low hands robinson would be smashing shots of him all night, papke has a top chin so he may see the final bell but takes a frightful beating

Robinson because this isnt wrestling and thongs shouldnt be the only thing worn in the ring. Papke gets DQ'ed but I'm not sure if its for excess clinching/wrestling or baring his ass cheeks

all jokes aside I have wondered about the excessie clinching back in those days. If we were to transport some of hese fighters in a time machine to fight others (under, I assume more 'modern' rules or indeed the most fair we could come up with) these guys would be DQ'd after a while.

    And please, no Hatton jokes:lol:

This particular fight was scheduled for 20 rounds and both fighters supposedly broke their hands very early on, resulting in what was little more than a wrestling contest. The reporters described the fight as if it was "two old men fighting" compared to their previous bouts which were supposedly action-packed.

Wrestling/clinching was mostly used in order to wear the opponent down in fights that could last as much as 45 rounds.
