Bull**** if the fight is for the strap there should be NO weight stipulations .

147 pnds no bull**** and no crying about weight then the fight can be for the belt.

for all his bitching, i wish cotto would vacate this title, then pac suddenly walks out of this fight.

lets see after that if cotto honestly feels the title is as worthless as he makes it out to be.

Bull**** - he's just standing by his belief that additional restrictions should not be placed on a title fight. He said that they can strip the title from him for not putting it on the line, he'll drop it off himself. He is just standing firm on what he thinks is right.

Why dropped the title for nothing if he can have a chance of defending it in a megafight? i cant see the logic of it. if he wins he got lots of money, retain belt and lots of bargaining tools in future fights.

Sometimes when we feel we're right about something we don't budge - regardless of logic. That's how most of us men are.

that's not how wise men are. that's why principled man usually loses everything except his principle.

Since when are most boxers considered wise men? The point of arguing this is pointless. Many of us feel he is right and agree with him, and many do not. I am one of those who agrees that title fights should not have additional weight restrictions - we're going to end up with a bunch of champs who refuse to fight at the division limits.

LOL at everyone making this such a big deal....

Its so funny to me how fans, fighters and trainers are always saying how alphabet trinkets (which is what cottos belt is) is such a huge problem with boxing.... and yet completely whine and cry about when a fighter whos not even the champ of the division, is not putting his trinket on the line (that he has to pay fees to do so) at a catchweight fight....

    its absurd. and hypocritical

    it means nothing....

If this was mosley, for the true championship or ring belt... i would understand.

Its politics and its unprofessional ... its a ploy on behalf of Cotto to get something extra ... now that the fight has been announced ... he got his extension with TopRank and the buzz is strong - now he probably wants more money ... or a higher percentage of the gate or something.

PAC knew the terms THIS WHOLE TIME, cottos stance HAS NEVER CHANGED ON THIS

and NOW after the fight has been officially announced and all that, pac and camp is saying they might not fight if the belt isnt on the line... this is PACS fault not cottos.

Cottos stance is simple, if he wants to fight for the title.... then fight at 147, how freaking hard is that lol...

Cotto gave in to coming down in weight to make the fight
Cotto gave in to the purse of the fight to make it happen

and yet all he is getting is flack from a lot in the community, for something that is so STUPID as putting a WORTHLESS trinket on the line (that he would have to pay the sanctioning fee to do so)

the buzz over this is so damn overblown, you all should be happy that pac and cotto are even fighting....

He won the strap at 47 not 45..its his right to force it at 47..if pac is so sure and he wants the belt so bad than he should take it at 47 and force cotto to give up a little bit more of his purse...

why cant you guys just be happy that this fight is happening? **** pac. cottos title is at 147. he wants to be the man at 147...fight at 147....if he just wants ot fight cotto and at a reasonble weight...then 145 it is and leave it there. why the **** should pac dictate whether cottos belt is on the line when its cottos belt?
