Alexander doesn't seem to have a fluid offense needed to course him problems, he looks constrained in movement as a result it comes out like a laboring club fighter of sorts. Witter is too seasoned for that. Alexander doesn't have the effective aggresiveness to unsettle witter, he doesn't punctuate the right shots or have the timing to take advantage of witters ineffective switch hitting, this is key because that practice just confuses witter, its all smoke and mirrors and it won't be to his disadvantage in this fight also Alexander has the tendency to drop his workrate and telegraphs his punches particularly power shots by grunting, Witter has the style to beat him to the punch and will also time him and counter. Witter is one of those guys that always goes on a little winning streak after a **** performance, he should be focused with a Khan unification carrot dangling in front of him, witter wins this in a UD, might be a cure for insomnia though.
I have been looking a few Alexander fights but gave up. From what i have heard he has a nice style for Witter
Where did you see Alexander? I'd like to have a look. I'd like to see a more aggressive Witter. The one that beat Castro in his last fight. I realise that guy was poor, but I don't think Witter will impress by posing and dancing, he really needs to do something substantial.
Yep, I could not find any Alexander fights either. I predict a TKO for Witter in between rounds 6-9, although Alexander could turn out to have an iron chin, I just don't know. BTW Slip keep it up with your 'convinced' threads :good
Needs to use his jab a lot more as TFFP said be a lot more aggressive and be nastier. Needs lay seeds of doubt in Alexanders mind. He allowed a cagey Bradley to gain confidence. I hope he comes in warmed up and with bad intentions and doesn't load up.
He didn't respect Castro though..... neither would I I have gone for Alexander by stoppage..... Witter was on Calendar TV (the Yorkshire news chat show) and he looked drained - hope he gets it right though and does the job.
i watched him against chop chop (i have it recorded) he's to passive, he's a southpaw and his right hand is not great, maybe a poor mans spinks, he can get countered and fades down the stretch. good news for junior
Timothy Bradley 139 vs Nate Campbell 138.5 (WBO junior welterweight championship) Junior Witter 139 vs Devon Alexander 138.5 (WBC junior welterweight championship)
I always enjoy these, slip:good. Keep them up; even if I don't agree with them (which is rare) they still are a good analysis:good.
Two great fights tomorrow night IMO. Bradley/Campbell should be brilliant, I can picture it being a good fight. Nate has a really good shot, he's a lot slicker and has better know how. I can see him really asking questions of Bradley - whether Bradley has more than he's shown us which is very basic. If Bradley wins he'll be the real deal once and for all.
cheers, losfer...:good must say i'm more convinced on the campbell/bradley fight, i don't think 2 fights are enough to analyse Alexander and maybe a little bias for witter (articulating what i want to happen perhaps) i want Khan/Witter damn it :yep witter could easily lose this if he doesn't turn up because devon has decent fundamentals and if witter is out of sorts with his style he could be made to look like naz vs barrera, but Alexander is average so witter if he really has any hopes of doing more beyond this has to win.
Agreed, Witter really needs to go out looking to take control of this fight especially if, as I believe is the case, we are going to get two American judges and a Mexican. We have seen before with Witter that where he comes up against a reasonably schooled guy who he can't swat out in a few rounds he tends to lose concentration, get lackadaisical and struggle in the mid-late rounds. The key to it is how good Alexander really is which we have yet to be convinced of.
I'm not totally convinced by either guy yet. Bradley looked a million dollars against Witter but then struggled with Holt. Holt lost that fight as much as he won it. Makes me wonder whether Witter had a bad night, or just met his stylistic nemesis. Campbell obviously had the great performance v Diaz, but he's knocking on and his inconsistency makes me wonder whether he might turn out to be a one-hit wonder. I guess we will see. I think the Witter-Alexander winner has a shot v either of them.
