Ward looked good against Miranda. But remember Miranda is easy to look good against. Maybe you are right that ward is very talented (as amateur he was I can assume with his olympic gold - very nice) - but that is not enough to do anything against an experienced prof. Please give me one more solid reference from his fight list that backs your ambition up that he can fight equal or even win against kessler. I remember the same talk about this guy fra kazakstan named Dimitri Sartison that MK beat about 1-1½ year ago. Dimitri was 22-0 before going in against MK, undefeated and very skilled and had a more or less similar fight record than Ward with only 1 known name on his fight list. MK won almost all round and stopped the guy in the end off 12 round. I'm not saying your guy ward is exactly the same but until 1 year ago (maybe a little more) I did'nt even now this guy by name or anything. And then suddenly this guy should rule the SMW division - by beating one of the best fighters there (if not the best) - without any real stepping up in challenge (ok we have Miranda - but come on). From my point of view should Ward and Direll fight each other and also fight guys like Librado Andrade, Saiko bika, Jean Pascal etc. before having a go for the champs. Andre Ward and Andre Direll should be replaced with to 2 missing belt holders (Bute and xxxx (don't remember). But still - I accept it because I look forward for MK to fight Froch, Abraham and Tailor (or at least 1 or 2 of them). Anyway the 6pack tourament is great anyway. And if Ward or Direll should win this tournament (only small changes due to my believes) them I welcome the new situation - BUT I JUST DON'T SEE IT COMMING. I hope you understand my point of view (119 - 109) x 3 or something close to that is what I expect.
Not saying why dont make me wrong. Too much too soon for Ward. He's been fighting nobodies which wont have prepared him for the class of the division and he simply hasnt got the power to stop kessler unloading on him all night. After the fight it will be so obvious he wasnt ready to fight Kessler. Kessler WILL dominate him.
The exact samething can be said about Kessler...When he stepped up in class...He lost and was made to look clueless once Calzaghe switched up his gameplan...Not saying that Ward is on the level of the likes of Calzaghe, but Ward is going to present Kessler with major problems. Thats more better and I understand the way you feel about the situation but I respectfully disagree...Yes Kessler has the experience over Ward but thats about it IMO...Ward is the better skilled fighter of the two and I dont think Kessler will dominate him...A win yes but win by domination...I doubt that.:bart
I think Kessler will stop Ward, but the fight could potentially be quite even in the 1st 8 rounds. I would bet on a late Kessler TKO.
Froch is about to get his ass beat by Dirrell!! so I guess the 2nd round can be the round of the loser with Kessler-Froch!!
Nope Kessler stepped up to world class and dominated world class operaters before he came up a bit short vs a P4P fighter. Ward hasnt even fought a top 15 fighter yet let alone dominated one. Go watch Kessler lay a beat down on Andrade. That guy is still a top 5 guy today and should arguably be the IBF champ. He go owned. Now dont get me wrong Andrade fights nothing like Ward but dont think for one second Ward can do what Calzaghe could because he cant. Expect a boxing lesson. Ward will be the better boxer for it in a couple of years.
Have to disagree with out here.... First I'll say that the big talent is Direll thats for sure, I just don't believe he is ready for this Froch guy. I really think that Froch will put him under big pressure and take him out around 10th round.. Don't underestimate Froch - he is more difficuilt to handle than people should expect. But to be honost I hope your Direll guy takes him - but I don't believe in it. Remember Froch is almost as high as Direll and right now he is more dangerous that ever because he has a lot of selfconfidense.
Ward doesnt need to do what Calzaghe did. Calzaghe won like 10-2. If Ward can just win 7-5 then he wins the title. Ward has a great shot to win
Froch is preety good. I just think that Froch leaving his hands down all the time is not gonna work with Dirrell. Dirrell doesnt just stand there and take punches and he switches stances. Forch cant practice that, Dirrell might fight southpaw the whole fight
Andreade is doesnt possese the skill that Ward has so that a moot point...And I made it clear as day that Ward and Calzaghe or not the same fighters but the do share similar abilities to swithc up gameplans up in the middle of a fight...Thats going to be the key here...As I've stated earlier...Kessler has shown the he doesnt do well when he has to adjust in the middle of a fight...Kessler seems to be one track minded if he cant get to his opponents with his initial game plan...He tends to look lost when cant adjust in a fight...Ward is known to be a switch hitter and swithcing from orthodox to southpaw will cause Kessler problems...Thats why I see this fight being a close fight instead of a blow out as you're trying to imply. Yes...I have watched Kessler in the pass to make my opinion...I watched the Beyer , Andreade, and Calzaghe fight...Yes a good fighter with a good tempo but I think Ward has what it takes to pull of the upset my friend.:good No hard feeling towards you...I like debating with other fans to gain knowledgeable insight!:good
People forget that Kessler isn't just a powerpuncher, he's a powerpuncher with really good skills. He may be the most athletic fighter in this. That said, ward may be the hardest to hit fighter in tourney, but his big weakness is he has yet to demonstrate any meaningful power. His best bet is to win a UD, but this will be hard against Kessler as he has alot of experience with high quality opponents. My bet is on Kessler winning by UD because he catches Ward a few time and puts him down, but Ward will be skilled enough to survive till the end.
Granted Kessler has plan a and more plan a follwed by plan a. I dont think Ward will be able to handle plan a though because Kesslers plan a really is very solid.
