    8/1/2009

    1. Enzo Maccarinelli
    2. Amir Khan
    3. Audley Harrison
    4. David Haye
    5. Ricky Hatton
    6. Jason Litzau
    7. Zab Judah
    8. Jaidon Codrington
    9. Roy Jones Jr.
    10. Vic Darchinyan

    Notes:

I have nothing against Enzo Maccarinelli but he was (T)KOed yet again. From all accounts he sounds like a likable guy and I must admit the video I have seen of him training in the gym he looks like a beast hitting the bag. The guy just can't take a punch but I think his problems are mental more than anything. I doubt he will be number one for long especially if he retires.

Khan moved to #2 since he survived a fight with a guy with a dangerous 31% KO rate. I still expect Khan to be out of the sport by the end of 2010.

Hatton will be off the list also if he retires again nothing against the guy and he did not always have a Glass Jaw but he has one now maybe his lifestyle finally caught up to him?

Haye is going to get brutally KOed by a Jab by Valuev.

The rest of the list is pretty much self explanatory.

    Thoughts?

Victor Ortiz should be number 2. Jonathan Banks should be number 4 or 5. Haye shouldnt be on there imo, or should be at the very bottom. The guy has never been sparked out and got TKO'd because of fatigue similar to Taylor, and that was ages ago, yes hes been down a few times, but so as has Timothy Bradley and Arreola recently. And why isnt Wlad in the top 5? Everbody knows that a fat shot on his chin is game over.

with an all British top 5 I should probably use your method of recording dates.

Have you heard if Hatton and Maccarinelli are going to retire? In a way I would like Hatton to retire the guy has made more money than just about anyone in the sport and I would like to see him enjoy it and his family. I will never forget the support he had from the British fans there is not one American Boxer that has support and a fan base like he had.

You mean your top 5 is british. Mine has more variety to it. I will admit though there are still 2 or 3 brits in mine, which aint good :?

America has it's share of Glass Jawed jokes also. It is just a strange time in Boxing right now for British fighters.

Enzo said prior to the fight that if he lost he would give it up.

There were rumours of him confirming his retirement, then he came out and said he wasn't sure what he was doing and was going to consider his future.

I'd recommend he packed in. He doesn't have anywhere to go.

In terms of Hatton, I'd like to see him quit as well. Plenty of people are saying he is shot etc, but his footwork is still the same, can still punch (note the right hand on Pac) - but his punch resistance isn't what it was. Personally (if he carries on) I'd like to see him get back with his old nutritionist and come back at 147. He isn't as bad as people believe, he did better than Berto against Collazo and was going to lose to Floyd regardless.

Perhaps not having to take the last 7lbs off may help.

He has plenty of options, fights with Khan and Witter...... whether he can headline in the States again is debatable.

Yeah it is a bit weird. It makes the fights exciting though. Amir has plenty of skills and Haye has devastating power and precision, but you cant help but nearly **** yourself everytime their opponent starts swinging at them as a british fan, as their chins are still suspect. I get proper nervous watching them, i can really feel the adrenaline going lol.:admin

I would be interested in a Hatton/Khan fight and if he were to go on it would be the only fight I would want to see Hatton in because he would make a truck load of money for that fight. I agree about his footwork and punch I think he was just out on his feet so to speak after the first knockdown in the Pac fight. He could catch Khan it is certainly a winnable fight for him. I would not be interested in a Witter fight.
