How does he deserve respect beating someone that 40+ year old Holyfield shutout?

This win will just be a stepping stone for Haye. However i feel when he does win he wont get the credit he deserves.

He already deserves respect as a boxer, he's a former world champion. A real world champion that beat the lineal champ in his backyard.

I tend to agree, a win over Valuev goes some way to proving Haye is the real deal at heavy. Valuev has not always been convincing but he's always been competitive with solid heavyweights.

He needs to do more than beat Valuev to be considered great.

If Haye beats Valuev he will be expected to fight again within a year, this alone will probably be enough for him to drop the belt.
I understand that the match against Barrett was so straining that he had to wait 7 months before fighting Wlad, and that the disappointment of pulling out of that fight meant he had to wait 2 1/2 months before fighting Vitali, and the disrespect of the contract offered by Vitali was so shocking that he had to wait 2 months before fighting Valuev, but it's getting out of hand now. I've never heard of someone needing a few months rest from not fighting.

  10. That man will never deserve respect. If he hadnt pulled out of the Vitali fight he might deserve respect, but he talked way too much to pull a stunt like that in my opinion.

If Haye beat Wladimir or Vitali spectacularly we'd be talking. But we all know how that went.

If he beats Valuev then Haye at least brings some money home and can pay his bills, not much more. He hasn't had much income recently I assume.

If he KOs the beast I'll be impressed. I suspect he will jab and move to a decision though.

If geriatric and half-way to pugilistic dementia Holyfield can beat Valuev, Haye had better destroy him. He'll look like a joke otherwise.

btw this is clearly a miss match like mayweather and gatti (RIP gatti I luv you), valuev just wont be able to catch him with even jabs
