When Bernard Hopkins does it (see Calzague fight) it's genious (trying to get time, the referee on his side). When Campbell legitimally does it (he knew he was going to lose) then he's looking for a way out.
People butt heads all the time. It always depends on the style. And Bradley style will generate alot of head clashes. (The only intentional butters I've ever witnessed are Hoyfield and B-Hop). The only way to stop it is to use headgear. But I doubt anybody would want that.
Right becuase Campbell knew he was going to lose Hopkins never allowed that thought to enter his mind big big difference.:deal
Why didn't the ref stop the fight to check campbell? He stated he saw the headbutt but let the fight continue?
Bad break for Nate. I hope boxing will look at this as a good enough reason to really consider the use of replay. Despicable job by the ref.
Frankly, considering the circumstances, he did exactly the right thing. Replay will almost certainly overturn this to a NC, but the ref never ruled a butt caused the cut. If he reversed himself w/o benefit of replay it would have been worse IMO.
