Calzaghe - Most Overrated Fighter

Get lost, stupid thread mate been done too many times as well and go watch RJJ v.s Hopkins and tell me that the Hopkins Calzaghe beat was not better than the one Jones beat. What an idiot.

That's convinced me.

I thought Calzaghe won when I watched it and each of the countless times I re-watched it because of all the detailed arguments on these boards but some guy whos probably an alias can't remember the fight but knows who won. You simply cannot argue with logic like that.

 

Sorry to be rational about this but:

1) Where is Calzaghe rated?

and

2) Where should Calzaghe be rated?

To say whether he's over-rated you need to know the answer to both those questions.

I think JC is underated actually.

He could take any present SMW anyday. If hopkins was young and prime they would probably make it like 5-5 in 10 fights.

 

Well in that case he is as overated as Hopkins.

Hopkins had a lengthly stay at middleweight defending it numerous times against b level fighters.

The only 'greats' where DLH and Trinidad, both of whom where substantially smaller than him.

He then jumps up and beats a decent champion, but not great in Tarver.

He then gets Winky Wright to fight at a weight which suits Hopkins and clearly puts Winky in a disadvantage.

He then loses in a close fight to Calzaghe, where he tries to claim foul.

He then gets another guy to step up to a weight where he was not as effective when he fought there last and beats him. Which at first looks good until you look back and anyone wityh half a brain should have known Hopkins was going to school Pavlik who is /was being hyped beyond hypeage.

See we can all do this, Calzaghe and Hopkins will both go down as greats.

Calzaghe was great. Which is proved by how many people hate on him.

 

BTW... Chris Eubank had just turned 31 years old when Calzaghe dominated him. I am tired of people acting like he was just soo old and washed up. This is the same Eubank who turned around, went all the way up to Cruiserweight afterwards and gave Carl Thompson all he could handle in a close decision loss. Then turns around after that in the rematch and was BEATING Thompson, only to have the fight stopped before the 10th round due to swelling. That is not an old shot fighter.

Calzaghe was a great fighter, awkward style, good speed, great movement, great stamina. He would be a test for anybody.

However I have never seen a fighter with more annoying fans then this guy. According to the Joe C nut huggers, It is a sin just to leave it at Calzaghe being a great fighter, N O....To a Joe C nutthuger...He is the greatest boxer of all time, Has the most Granite chin of any boxer....faster then any boxer....beat a prime Hopkins and Jones.....and would win a wide UD against ALi with ease.....Oh yea..and he has devastating one punch KO power, but cant throw ko punches because he hurt his hands. The joe C Fanboys are the reason so many people hate on Joe.
