I don't agree with the belt being on the line if Pacquaio isn't willing to fight Cotto at 147. I guess will have to wait and see what really happens when everything is said and done.

i'm sure there would be a fine if either fighter comes heavier than 145, they will pay a certain amount of money to the other just like the oscar-pac fight. with that, cotto can gamble and just pay the fine and come in with as much weigh advantage as possible and hope to beat pac. then he would be the new star and his earning status would rise.

I don't think many people would have lost much sleep over not seeing these match-ups (a bit in retrospect I admit).

Varcarcel can say whatever he wants. Cotto still has the last word. He can't make Cotto pay the fees. Cotto already said he is willing to give them the belt back.

I don't think Cotto will be weight drained at 145lbs. It's the other way around. Cotto will have a huge advantage at 147 lbs when it comes to size and that's what team Pacquiao's concern for asking the fight to be
    made at 145. IMHO... Cheers!!:hey:hey:hey

The Roach team already told the WBO that they will incur all fees and then some.....now Manny is their #1
and title will be on the line at 145 lb.

I have a link on a thread.....Pacquiao trying to buy belt.
    Crazy and dirty stuff !!!!

Cotto should vacate, and walk away. If Pac wants a welterweight title, the weight limit is 147. Fight at 47, or shut the **** up.

I'am not against them coming in at any weight they like but i don't see Cotto making an issue about the $$$$$ penalty's here, it ai'nt even been brought up & if it has Cotto ai'nt agreed 2 it YET,

I see it this way, Cotto is the champ & this is a voluntary defence, if he ai'nt happy about fighting at 145 then he should just **** off elsewhere IMO simple as:yep

There's nothing unusual about guys from lower weight div's just trying 2 get a level playing field 4 the benifit of making a competitive bout 4 all of us boxing junkies. If Cotto feels he can't perform 2 his best at 145 then he should'nt even be in negotiations 4 this bout as Pac ai'nt a WW, I just don't get it with some of these idiots on ESB, Pac's only a little guy who done incredibly well but even if he beat Cotto at 147 he'd still get grief & i'am a big Cotto fan:yep

Cotto wins this 4 me by TKO but it still begs the question as 2 why Cotto expects Pac 2 fight him at the WW limit, if it's at 145 & he feels it'll affect him then SCRAP IT & move on:smoke

Ray Leonard was allways contracting fights at fixed weight's within the Div limits, so did DLH/Hopkins 4 example, my serious concern is that we'll get a PULL OUT by the pac camp at the weigh in as they will not fight Cotto at 147 & Cotto WILL weigh in at 147 = ****IN CHAOS i'll stick 2 going 2 Germany 4 the Haye/Valuev fight & getting drunk on great beer & getting 2 grips with those Deutsche Madien's:good

good honest points but i think you don't need to worry about pac pulling-out once the fight has been signed. i'm sure i've read somewhere that pac's team are asking for a penalty with every pound excess of 145. so cotto can weigh 147 or even 150 and their would be no problem since they would be compensated.

Cotto should ask for more than the 35% if they want the title

OK then,So Pac dos'nt mind fighting Cotto at 147 then providing it's a same day/fight weigh in & Cotto coughs up another $2 million penalty, it don't suprise me if it's the pac camp playing hardball when it comes 2 CASH.

IF it's a same day weigh in then we've got a fair comprimise:smoke

For PACMAN i'am more than convinced this fight is ONE STEP 2 FAR:yep

    What were the purse splits????:huh

i think they would prefer cotto coming in at 145 rather than 147 and receive cash fine but if that happened, of course they would not refuse the fine and would just try to win even with the huge size disparity. this cash fine also would made sure that pac would not pull-out once cotto weigh above the agreed catch weight.

purse splits can range from 35-65 to 45-55 for cotto from what i've read from reports.
