The alphabet soup are are nothing but a corrupt orginization.

You know why they want the belt on the line? Cause of the sanctioning fee. If PAC wins they get 300k.

Cotto never begged for a fight with Pacquiao. But after the Jennings fight he did say he'd like to fight Mosley, Berto, Clottey, and the winner of Pacquiao-Hatton.

Other than that, the only time I ever remember hearing him calling a fighter out by name was in the Abdullaev postfight interview when he said he wanted to go to 147 and fight De La Hoya.

It doesn't matter if the fees are $5 million. Pac has offered to pay them so the fees are irrelevant. We both know the real reason why he's doing this. He agreed to 145 lbs., now he's trying to get the fight at 147.

And Cotto said if the fight was at a catchweight, it would have to be at 145. So i don't see what the problem is.

Mosley is begging for a fight with Pac. if he's saying he wants a 40/60 split, they could probably get a 65/35 split if they pushed for it. Pac could also just as easily take a fight against someone like a Valero, take pretty much all the money, and ensure the huge payday against Floyd. Pac does not need Cotto. They're only taking this fight so Pac can call himself a 7 division champ.

Cotto weighed in at 146 against Clottey. So he only has to cut an extra 1 lb. There is absolutely no reason why he can't fight at 145. 37 year old Hopkins, can come in against Hoya at 156 lbs when he's never fought that low, yet a 28 year old Cotto can't cut 1 extra lb.? I'm not buying that. Cotto is barely 5' 7', he is not that big of a guy. And yes, Pac does have to go up. He's a JWW. Hatton walks around at about 154 during camp. Are going to tell me he didn't have to go up to fight Floyd? Would you say he wasn't going up at all if he fought at JMW?

I know you Cotto fans are pretty sensitive, but some of you guys need to chill out. The bottom line is Cotto is the one who wanted this fight. Pac has pretty much all of the leverage. If Cotto doesn't like it, he can go rematch Clottey or fight the Michael Jennings of the world.

Please. Emmanuel Dapidran used his pfp status to declare a catch weight fight with the ww champ. The catchweight is something Cotto agreed to only because he wants a big money fight. Cotto is supposed to have all of the size advantages going in because the 140 pound champ saw him on television and challenged him. Yeah, cotto could've said no, but you would be calling him a *****, and Cotto will fight anyone forget the money. It is Cotto's chance to make good money, but don't treat it like it is some golden opportunity like he won't ever get that chance again.

Like all the other great fighters who moved up to challenge the ww champion, ED ask's for a catch weight... why? To even up the size a bit more...please. Cotto was killing himself to make 140, and now has to go down to maybe as low as anywhere from 140 to 145? The thrill of being a fan is to see bigger guys beaten by smaller guys. Nobody wants to see catchweight fights. The weight issue isn't a bullshite excuse. You are the 140 pound champion asking the ww champ to come in at a weight YOU desire, and I find that ***gish, and you want him to put his title on the line when the ww limit is 147??? ***gish! Floyd never used his status like that.

Pac should demand more money from Cotto take the fight at 147, and that's it. Not try to even up a fight by asking a guy to come in first at 143, and then ED gets the agreed weight of 145. Fruity. Had Cotto been the draw and fought PAc's last two opponents, and Pac challenged him, we'd see the fight at 147 unconditionally. You sound like a sideline Pac fan. This great fight is close to a farce because of Pac and Roach's sorry asses. I hope Cotto knocks his ass out just for asking for a catch weight. Will he catchweight Berto, AM, Clottey or Floyd in the future???

Yeah, two pounds isn't that big a deal...yeah to you! I'll be the first to tell YOU that in case YOU'VE never had to go through losing two pounds for a fight against a top fighter. What you said is easily said...hollow words coming from you Reg.

The fact that this thread is predicated on the idea that Cotto is the one with the excuses is beyond dumbfounding. Manny Pacquiao wants to fight for a WW title. He isn't accepting offers or even considereing fights under the WW limit. His prospected oppenents have been only Cotto and Mosely, both WW fighters. The fact that he doesn't not want to fight to the full WW limitations is ridiculous. Sure there is a long history in boxing of catch weight fights, there is also a long history political bull**** involved in each fight, doesn't make it right.

Many of you who see no problem with the fight being a title fight at 145lbs have used the excuse it is only two pounds and Cotto weighed 146 against Clottey. Will you please go tell Pac this. 147 is only two LBS away from 145 and Pac fought De La Hoya at 147. Where's the problem. I believe Roach at one time said it wouldn't matter if Cotto weighed 200lbs that Pac would still beat him. Whose making excuses now?

Also many of you seem to have no problem with the belt being on the line for the 145 catchweight because 145 is within the 141-147 welterweight limits, but would the sentiment be the same if Pac was demanding a title fight at 141 LBS? The agruement is the same. The fight would still be a WW fight.

Cotto has done nothing but concede to Manny's request, not the other way around. Cotto, the Champion, paper champ or whatever, is taking the smaller purse. Eventhough Manny is the one that pursed the fight Cotto has agreed to fight at a limit under his natural welterweight limit. Now he is also to put up some of his lesser purse on sanctioning fee's so that Manny can make a run at history?

Dlh was called a ***** for what he made Hop do, Chavez too for fighting Pea at 145, Sugar Leonard for making Lalonde put his LHW title on the line. Fans complained about those fights because there was no need. Hearns went straight to 160 to fight Hagler as did Duran. Duran went to 147 to face Sugar. Arguello went straight to 140 to fight Pryor. Pac asking a man to come down in weight makes me want to puke. this is today's boxing, and it stinks all to hell!

If Pacquiao wants Cotto's 147 belt, he should fight him at 147.

Cotto wanted the fight? We thought Pac called Arum up and wanted the fight after seeing him struggle with Clottey. Don't tell me, you have inside info on this matter lol... Had Cotto not taken this fight, Pac had no mega fight on the horizon except Floyd. Cotto should've said no. If the fighter PAc is facing isn't inferior already, he is either weight weakened or old. Always one of the 3 when it comes to a Pac opponent.

First off, i'm not a sideline Pac fan. Second, Cotto is the one who said he wanted to fight Pac(he said it before the Hatton fight). Third, don't give me this bull**** about how it's so hard Cotto to fight at 145. Cotto weighed in at 146 against Clottey. So that's one extra lb. That 1 lb. is not a big deal. To argue otherwise is ridiculous. in fact, Cotto's own nutritionist said he could get down to 145 lbs. safely. Pac does not need Cotto. This is a fight that his promoter wanted. Yeah, Floyd doesn't use his status to gain the upper hand, but guess what? He still gets shitted on. He caught a lot of flak for NOT fighting Hatton at a catchweight. And he never got much credit for beating Hoya even though he gave into numerous concessions. So why the hell should Pac not take advantage of his status and put himself at a bigger risk of blowing mega payday with Floyd when he'll probably get criticized regardless?

And if this is a *** move by Pac, what about when Cotto pushed back the weigh in time against Malignaggi so that he could have more time to rehydrate and then fought him in the smallest ring Top Rank could find? What about when Sugar Ray Leonard made Hagler give in to all sorts of concessions in their fight? The fact of the matter is, boxers have been using their status to gain the upper hand for decades. It's a part of the sport.

This is nothing new in boxing. Surprisingly, a lot of posters choose to look ignorant and let hate make them look whiners. Either way, NO FIGHTER DESERVES KEEPING HIS BELT IF HE LOSES, ESPECIALLY TO A SMALLER MAN.

I hope the negotiations fail, and just let the fighters find other opponents. I'm sure Pac and Cotto can find opponents that would give them the same financial awards.
