    U decide?

I think because Calzaghe had ZERO credibility pre 2005, SAYS really how long Joe was regarded a Top Fighter ....3 YEARS!!!!

its a bit of all 3 but more to do with the fact Joe was very underrated and still is

Minor factors were Lacys' destruction of a few good fighters beforehand and Calzaghe getting dropped and looking rough in a few of his most recent fights.

The Major factor was Lacy comes from America, and is therefore better.

All the factors. Showtime hyped him to bloody hell plus Lacy was looking like a world beater plus Calzaghe wasn't taken too seriously. I thought Lacy was going to win based on those factors. At that time, I was a new boxing fan that knew nothing about Calzaghe and I got caught up in the hype surrounding Lacy. I'm not lying, look at my username right. In 2006 or whatever the hell year they fought, I thought Lacy was going to be next Tyson. I'm stupid, man. Lacy is one-dimensional. Calzaghe is super fast and ****.

To expand on your major factor, which is a little (though not entirely) unfair, Americans weren't exposed to Calzaghe as much as they were Lacy. You can blame patriotism, but when you have a guy that's relatively unknown and you have another guy that's been cracking heads then it isn't a hard choice to make.

Due to the fact Lacy looked like he'd been cut from stone, had demolished Robin Reid, who gave Calzaghe problems a few years earlier and was being built up as the next Tyson. Also, because he is American.

They thought Joe was on the slide after 7 years as champ and Lacy was the next big thing.

They also underrated the quality of Calzaghe's competition up to that point which to be fair had some **** names in there but also plenty of very solid names like Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer and Mitchell.

Combination of Showtime marketing and Joe being under rated.

truth is people didnt take into consideration calzaghes style of fighting. they only considered who he fought and therefore said "calzaghe aint never fought anyone hu hits like lacy"

    none of the things listed.
calzaghe was past prime and lacy came to get his belt but it was just what calzaghe needed as warren would have never taken him to the US and made his name global.
calz found a new lease of life and showed the world what he was made of.
shame he didnt do it earlier as he was past his best even in 2005 imo.
