i like joe calzaghe i think he is a good fighter, but to all the yanks......rocky marciano fought an old joe louis and an old joe walcott and was nearly stopped against ezzard charles and archie moore dropped him in the 2nd rnd of his last ever fight. It isn't marciano's fault that he didn't have the prime version's of the above fighters but you carn't knock the man when he did what he had to do. Which was come away with the W. There's no diffrence between calzaghe and marciano when you look at it like that, so a don't understand why people just dont let it drop.
People don't let it drop because he's a liar and therefore lacks credibility.I used to be a fan,but after what he said in his autobiography about Jones being shot and unworthy after he was destroyed by Tarver and Johnson and that he wouldn't fight Jones because he claimed Roy was undeserving.Then,after the fight was signed,he went around saying that Jones was still great and now brags about beating a legend.Everyone knows this.It's the plain truth.Accept it or not,it's the truth.That's when I lost a ton of respect for him.He has no credilbilty and would say anything to make himself look good.
In my opinion Calzaghe is hard to actually rate realistically. He beat Kessler quite clearly, but Kessler had serious problems with his right hand going in, and had surgery right after the fight. I scored Calzaghe/Hopkins for BHop, but damn, that was a hard fight to score. One guy threw 8-10 punches per round. The other failed to land an effective punch anywhere in the fight. Lacy was a hype-job, pure and simple. Jones was more shot than John Kennedy. So there's Joe's 4 best wins. On the other hand, H2H prime Slappy matches up pretty well with almost any career SMW. The problem is they're aren't many career SMW's who were great fighters.
