Don't forget JM Marquez who was the #1 WBO contender for something like 2 years.A couple of months ago,Marquez had an interview in Ring Magazine and is still giving out about how Hamed avoided him.
of course.... look at his resumè.. i hated that guy, but what he did in the ring and for the lower divisions is undenieable
Yes, for some class fights late into his career. Yes, for the skills. Yes, for the showmanship. No, for a majority of his early opponents. No, for losing his one and major world fight No, for retiring after getting booed after his last ****-poor fight. No, for praising Allah all the time when winning. And for not praising him when he lost. /No, for wearing leopard print shorts. //No, for having gap teeth, large ears and a big nose.
Marquez was losing NABF title shots when Hamed was a unified world champ in his mid 90's prime. Marquez didn't pick up a world title until two years AFTER Hamed had retired. The idea that Hamed was 'ducking' an unknown and somewhat obscure fighter like Marquez is a bit of a misnomer, for many reasons. Not least of which, Hamed truly felt that he was invincible.
If anyone can give me a credible reason why the most FAMOUS boxer Britain has ever produced, a unified/linear three-time world champion, should NOT be in the Hall of FAME, I'd really like to hear it.
Wrong.Marquez was dq'ed in 93 in his debut. He didn't lose again until 99 against Norwood for the WBA title. He didn't lose again until 2006 against Chris John.He was on the radar at the time because he was the #1 RANKED CONTENDER IN THE WBO for about 2 years.Hamed ducked him and Marquez is still angry about it.
:good Greatest ring walk ever tho... (That get's him over & makes up for the lack of Post Barrera resume)
