At the moment i'm liking De Gale first fight i was a hater but since then i see something in the lad. I think we've got plenty of fighters going to Euro level. Jefferies i think hasn't gone forward since leaving Joe Gallagher.

Price i wanna see the lad fight again this is really doing him no good he needs at least two small hall fights away from tv while they get sorted.

Fury i'm impressed with but i will be cautious because he's yet to be hit and taken into trenches.

Billy Joe may be good in time i just hope he's managed well. Gavin i don't feel he's gonna go that far just don't get a great feel for the lad at the moment maybe he will prove me wrong.

Yeah i like that he knew that cos otherwise i be worried he's another John Duddy thinking he has his own defensive technique of using his face.

The up and coming fighters we have now in my opinion are going to change all of that now.... look at Frankie Gavin or Kell Brook, those two in my opinion, as long as they keep winning will have alot more sucsess at the world stage than somebody like Hatton who is a prime example of who this thread is about.

Calzaghe and Lewis are exections to this rule aswell, may I point out.

Yeah i agree Calzaghe and Lewis and your right Hatton is a prime example. I hope Brook can do it but he will need to bide his time because that division is hard as....i like to see him use the next 9 months for learning fights which starts with Jennings.

Theres not a hope in hell that either Brook or Gavin has as a successful career as Hatton. I'm not saying that as a Hatton fan, just as a realist.

Since when is being number 1 in the world in your weight class for 4 years be cause for criticism?

Yeah i don't see Brook becoming a two weight world champion......World Champion i do hope and maybe but not in the next year..... I'm not a big Hatton fan but for any domestic fighter to have a better resume they will have to be damn good or be managed beautifully.

kevin mitchell wasn't having it, but any of you agree that some of our young fighters suffer from an identity crisis? in other words they don't fight to their strengths for example a young fighter blows away the early stiffs and then is lulled into the false sense of thinking he's a big puncher and a KO artist and so procedes with this idea against all his opponents (this is where the right trainer and advise is crucial) a guy who should be a boxer/puncher fights like a swarmer etc

Don't expect to see major revolutions in Jefferies game. That is why I say he's the furthest in his development, because I think he is bottlenecked by a lack of natural talent compared to the others. He might improve areas slightly, learn not to be so reckless and more patient, but essentially he is what he is. He's not the most athletic guy, solid skills and a solid hitter. I think the best we hope for is a Clinton Woods type career if he's half as tough as Clinton. Which is no bad thing, Clinton was a world champion and a solid performer. He reminds me of Clinton Woods.

Whereas DeGale and Gavin, I'm seeing quite obvious improvements fight by fight. They've got more in the locker.

If Hattons had a bad career at top flight and thats where the bar is being set then theres a lot of disappointment ahead for British fight fans.

He got flattened by Pac and PBF but people should take a look at who he did manage to beat and its not a bad list IMHO.

Spot On. A lot of fighters get a win over a fighter(s) and sometimes they are dubious stoppages or they beat a fighter to a stoppage with a accumulation of pressure and shots and think that's the way to fight everyone. Some keep winning like that and stop some more fighters and just think they are heavy handed. Problem is in this country and this sport...we look at stats and compare fights in this way ie...''oh look he stopped him three rounds earlier then he Witter did'' what they forget is that fight was three years ago with the guy having a full training camp and also the fact styles make fights.

As you say a good trainer tells them the right things.

Ya never know. We'd probably be sat here looking at the early part of Woods career thinking he's a pretty basic plodder. Fact is if you do the basics pretty well and have a stack of heart/toughness they are underrated intangibles that can take you pretty far.

Until you meet a guy way faster and more skilled, and equally tough.

good chins. Thee are a few like Froch with solid chins....but the Hayes, Hattons, Maccarinellis, Khans, Hides and Locketts of this world are the majority.
Lennox was one of the best heavies ever but arguably his biggrst weakness was a less than granite chin.

I think if he is not careful Billy Joe Saunders will fit into this category
