Joshua Clottey, the former IBF welterweight champion, is close to a dream fight for Shane Mosleys WBA belt after the sanctioning body named the Ghanaian as number one contender to the Americans title in the latest rankings. The WBA rankings, as well as those of the other main boxing sanctioning bodies, have brought Clottey closer to another title shot than ever, a month after he controversially lost to WBO champion, Miguel Cotto, in New York. I dont think Shane (Mosley) can runaway this time since I am the first contender to the title, Clottey told Graphic Sports in an interview. He has avoided me over the years, but I think this is the right time for us to fight because there cannot be any excuses from anybody anymore, the former champion said. If negotiations succeed, the fight is expected to happen around November to permit both boxers time to prepare for another of the welterweights juiciest clashes in recent times. http://www.modernghana.com/sports/230596/2/joshua-to-battle-shane-mosley.html Discuss. Who's your pick if it happens.
Man, I don't like that fight for Shane. Clottey is similar to Winky. Only thing is that he's not as busy. Shane could outwork him, but he's up there in age. Not a good fight for a guy on the wrong side of 35.
Will it really happen? ... It would be a great fight. And hard to pick. I would favor Mosley, but which Mosley will we see? The one from the Margarito fight or the Mayorga...
Clottey's wrong for Mosley as was Winky. I see Mosley having similar problems penetrating Clottey's guard and all the while having to deal with the constant pressure. Clottey UD.
I'd rather Shane fight Berto. But Clottey is a suitable replacement, it's a chance for fans to see if Shane can beat Clottey more impressively than Cotto did. Mosley will win a UD.
I bet who ever wins . . . will try to get Berto next . . . so relax. This might turn out just like welter tourney.
Okay . . . they are targeting November . . . so why not put it under the Pac/Cotto fight as double header. :yep
