Its Pac making the demands not Cotto. Cotto won the title without restrictions and should therefore be allowed to defend it as such. Of course Miguel is neve gonna admit the weight issues affect him, he's a blood and guts warrior but as we all seen in the past Cotto struggles bigtime when he's drained. Hell, if the 2lbs isnt much then why is team pac demanding it? I think most already know the answer to that one though.
you sound like a Cotto fan, so I ask you this, he fought Clottey at 146, and won. and by most peoples standards he put on a great show with that bad cut. at 146. so you mean to tell me, that all that heart, and boxing skill go out the window if he fights at 145. 1 lbs less?!?!? that sounds to me like excuses in the making in case Pac drops Cotto like he dropped Hatton.
Because Pac gave in to Cotto's 145lbs, Pac wanted 143 in case you forgot, and that would be giving another 4lbs.
You should try boiling yourself down to a weight and then just when you cant remove anymore.....try and lose the measly extra 1 lb Furthermore, then wait 24 hours and take part in one of the most demanding matches in one of the most physically demanding sports in the world and you will see what difference a couple of lbs makes then.
This weight Topic is such a big distraction to some pinheads that i think the main point has been forgotten..... Pacman is fighting Cotto for crying out loud. The fight is on!! Dont you get it? they are not ducking each other....they're negotiating some areas to level the playing field perhaps, and Cotto seems to be having his say in the matter as well. Catch-weight to me is when fighters from a different divisions fight each other. This is still a welterweight bout and not a catch weight as such...esp if cotto agrress to the weigh in at the same weight.,although it is not at the maximum weight for the division. Sounds like Freddie Roach knows how to push all the right buttons to get peoples attention off the real issues....its called offering a red herring where i come from ,and seems like the bait has been taken hook line and sinker....i bet both those teams are laughing at how this subject has ballooned out of all proportion.....
Disapointed - Yes of course I was, but Pacquiao was too good for Hatton, simple as that. I just want Pacman to win his 7th title without restricting the champion to a limit lower than the WW limit. I guess the best scenario I hope for is Cotto to dump the title & fight & win his 7th title when he feels physically ready to fight one of the WW champs who are allowed to weigh 147lbs if they wish. I'm looking forward to this fight between 2 fighters I like.
So would be fighting Klitschko @ 201lbs catchweight. If he wants a great legacy, he shouldn't win a title with a limit within the limit IMO.
