"Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao will enter the ring wearing 8-ounce gloves to get the most power out of their punches. Both fighters are going to be looking for the knockout.

"Both are punchers and they'll be wearing 8-ounce gloves in the fight." said Pacquiaos lawyer Franklin Gacal to the Manila Bulletin.

There is a rule in Nevada where all fighters above 135 pounds have to wear 10-ounce gloves to the ring. But there is a stipulation that permits the use of 8-ounce gloves-if both fighters agree to their use. This is a rule put together by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. In most other parts of the United States, fighters weighing up to 147 pounds can wear 8-ounce gloves. The Nevada Commission amended their rule for last years fight between Cotto and Margarito where both camps jointly protested to use 8-ounce gloves."

I remember when Cotto last year was insisting alot on the smaller gloves for the fight against Margo. Pacquiao is doing the same here. Pac must really think he can handle whatever Cotto brings.

Well Pac does not plan to stand in front of Cotto He is going to fight Cotto like he fought DLH witch is smart. Someone is getting Koed in this fight for sure and i think its going to be Pac and in thinking it will be to the body that Pac will fold.

Advantage for Pac. Cotto's peekaboo guard wont be as effective with 8'oz gloves as opposed to 10's... Not that it makes that much of a difference, but it benifits pac more than cotto

It is more likely that Cotto will suffer a cut with these smaller gloves, this will be one hell of a fight for as long as it last.

This is definitely not good for Miguel. Pac will destroy him.

It helps both I guess. I just don't see Pac getting a KO in this fight. If anyone is gettiing KO its Pac. Cotto has handled bombs from true WW so I think he will be able to handle Pacs power. De La Hoya said after his fight with Pac that the punches did not hurt he just couldn't get off.

Cotto didn't care about the glove size. It was Arum who was insisting the fight be fought with the smaller gloves.
