Do you think Jeff Chandler would rule todays Bantamweight Division?

This is actually a pretty solid bantamweight division, all things considered. But I think Chandler would certainly be able to win a title, and probably run it were he boxing today. But there are a couple of guys from what I can see (Hosegawa, Agbeko, and Montiel immediately come to mind) who had the talent to extend him, if not actually beat him out-right.

 

I wouldnt be confident of any of those guys beating him.

 

There's only Hasegawa really for me, but i still wouldn't be confident out right.

Montiel's still quality though!! Haha.

 

Hasegawa I would pick. His resume aint too deep yet but he's shown pretty awesome skills thus far.

 

I'd take Chandler to be the best.

 

Chandler is a little underrated in my mind. I like Agbeko but I think he'd be there to hit for Chandler and get stopped. Hasegawa is impressive. At this point, I'd take Chandler in a close one but leave the door open for Hasegawa changing my mind.

Hasegawa is a really good, quick-fisted boxer, who is staring to sit down on his punches with more frequency (and despite his low kayo percentage, he's always had some pop- witness his one punch KO of Sahaprom in the rematch). He definitely presents the stiffest challenge to Joltin Jeff, because their styles are pretty similar.

Check out the rematch with Sahaprom and his decimation of a capable Vusi Malinga for his best performances.

 

can't really say, I've never seen any of them. Jeff should do well for himself so long as no one of Richie Sandoval's capability and killer instinct out there waiting for him

Chandler would be at the top of today's Bantamweight Division, with the real showdown's would be against the likes of Rafael Marquez, Isreal Vazquez, Juan Manuel Lopez & Darchinyan.

 

Here's Hasegawa vs the aforementioned Malinga. Pretty impressive blow-out. Goes from unorthodox boxer to straight-shooting swarmer as soon as he got his opponent hurt, all the while keeping calm and collected.

I still think I might favor Chandler over any of them though, Hasegawa included. I didn't think he was great, but he was very solid in most aspects of the game, inside and out. I think an agile angle fighter like Canizales would've gotten the better of Jeff though, due to his more rigid, stand-up style. Don't get me wrong, he could move and showed some pep in his step, but he seemed a bit limited in what he could do offensively, IMO. In comparison to guys like Canizales, Harada, Olivares and others I consider great anyway.

 

i really like hasegawa, but like mijares he can be hit. supposing he has good punch resistance, how do others think he would get on against montiel, agbeko , or further down the line, donaire. question for you pea:is he too small for 122? because a logical fight is hasegawa vs nishioka imo.
