see, toney is one guy i'd feel safe lasting the distance. i'd include more analysis or why you think this is a viable matchup, you might get more replies that way.

statisticlly james had awful 174 career....but i think he has a good chance of stopping foster. foster is an aggressive jabber with a dodgy chin who doesnt clinch...to me it's not a good mix...but fosters athletic ability and discipline might mean he may get dropped but outwork the slower paced toney. for toney fantasy fights my rules of thumg is that whoever comes to him loses. who ever uses there athletic ability and workrate to beat him to the punch and outhustle him will beat him.
In my opinion one would have to say that Toney's style does not match up badly in terms of Toney's viewpoint. Foster has the movement at his disposal which is bad for Toney, but he loved coming to fight at 175, and Toney's countering against the aggressor is phenomenal, even if i do think he can be somewhat one dimensional. It's just that i find it hard to pick Toney to win here regardless. A difficult fight for Foster imo, it's probably his jab gives Toney not as many opportunities to use the angles to great affect as he would like, but i'll be honest, a great countering move fro Toney is something i can see producing a knockdown here, before Foster wages the type of war he wins, on points.
The disinterested Toney who fought Griffin and Thadzi would most likely lose convincingly. Toney at 168 lbs was a different story but I feel he would still lose. Foster has similar physical advantages over Toney as Nunn did, except even more so. He would likely outpoint Toney to win a decision. A stoppage win is not as impossible as people may think it is, Toney was after all hurt by Reggie Johnson. Toney has a great chin and was highly successful against heavyweights considering his age and his wear & tear, but it's the speed and power that always bothered him. Foster has that. I wouldn't expect that outcome by any means but it's possible in my opinion.

toney isnt going anywhere he is making the distance.he has a good defence great survival skills and a very good chin. but i dont think toney can really press foreward to any great effect. i think foster would walk away with it and box him but get caught with a right cross over his left jab. is it controversial to say that toney had a better career at heavyweight than foster did.
Toney doesn't have the footwork to deal with the guy. All of his movement is from the waist up and he'd have to move those legs at all times to do anything against a Foster. And Foster did stop a lot of guys difficult to stop and it is possible that Toney goes. Foster is a 1 punch ko guy with either hand and when you look at the Toney opponents you see lots of types that have to land combinations to do anything. It's very difficult to land combos on Toney.Whole different ballgame with a stiff jabbing and 1 punch Foster & I think a cutie pie/counterpuncher like Harold Johnson has a much better chance of getting the win than a Toney does.
