There some false story's saying Roach said Khan would vacate the WBA title if forced to face Maidana. Roach did say that before the Khan Kotelnik fight.

After the one sided schooling of Kotelnik this is what Dr.Roach said.

"[Marcos Rene Maidana] has just beaten [Victor] Ortiz for free. Those two have just fought for little money," Roach said. "I would love that fight but not right now. Why not build that fight up? There are some big names out there. My job is to get him ready for fights and I'm not afraid of anybody out there."

Plus I will give you a link, unlike other fake ass Motherf***ing haters.

Plus he said Khan WILL spar Manny leading up to the Cotto fight.

Khan's Mando is Salita NOT Maidana

lame... i'm gonna once again guarantee that khan vs. maidana never happens. despite what roach says, i wonder if he'll ever put khan in there with a guy who's a solid (pressure or otherwise) fighter with a punch.

Khan is only 22 years old. Ever is a long time.

Even if he doesn't fight a big puncher for the next 4 years, he will still only be 26 years old. So of course eventually he'll fight a big puncher.

Whether you like Roach or not. You have to admit he looks out for his fighters best interest. He obviously cares about his fighters.

So that clears it up for me. That was long before the Kotelnik fight. :deal

I'll stick to my original opinion that Khan still cannot afford to chose opponents at this point. He needs to take risks for recognition and to establish his name.

I found it unbelievable that Roach would say somehting like that openly and in print . . . that's being sizzy.

You'll guarantee and but you wonder?

    You are contradicting yourself dude.

If it's a mandatory fight . . . then it will happen otherwise Khan and Roach are both chickens . . . that's how I see it. It's gonna be a big shame for Khan to be stripped of his title for refusing a mandatory. :deal

There sure are a lot of experts on this site....offering guarantees even.

If it aint for big enough money....then why would you take a fight when you are the champ against a guy who wont secure a reasonable pay check...that seems to be the outlook of the Khan camp to me:deal

Build the fight up is just Roachs way of saying we dont want to fight the guy.

There are some big names out there like Erik Morales who has never fought at 140 and is retired, whilst im at it i may as well just call out Jeff Fenech.

Roach just contradicts himself in that interview.

At this moment in time Khan imo isnt ready for a rough handful like Maidana.

    Not our problem.

He is whether people like it or not now a world champion and on the world stage, no more gimme fights.

He is now playing with the big boys and the big boys at 140 are Maidana, Torres, Bradley, Alexander, etc.

If he fights Salita thats still a decent fight, but he needs to keep the level of competition up.

Not hating on Khan but he cant become a world champion and then go back to fighting smaller, winnable fights and say he is still learning so therefore i need to fight people i know i will beat.

Plus, Roach says HE isn't afraid of anyone out there, not Khan.

Bottom line: Khan camp knows his ass will get schooled by Maidana, so we shouldn't hold our breaths waiting for this to happen.

maidana ain't schooling nobody, Khan farts more boxing, his best hope would be trying to land a big hayemaker, so stop it with that reckless talk

in this sport, you get recognition by choosing your opponents smartly and looking impressive in the ring. Taking risks, winning some and losing some does not really get you recognition. If anything it gets you labelled as exposed and overrated.

Its a pre-prime Khan we're talking about, not a 25 year old freak of nature like Manny Pacquiao

I had a feeling they were gona take advantage of a weak belt holder and run. I expect the belt to be vaqcated for a Erik Morales fight...:patsch
