Your local boxing club/scene

    I mean either as a participant or spectator.

    Tell of your experiences. Let's hear some stories....and maybe some encouragement or advice for those who might be thinking about getting involved.

    Was in my local club for about 5 years or so. My first 2 years I was training regularly but after that I steadily lost intrest overthe years but somehow I always went back. I won 2 county titles but i had the talent to achieve much more. I got what I put in basicly

    i started boxing in local gym at age 14 now im 21. i started regualar training and competeing at 18 and found it a painful journey fighting seniors at super bantem weight. ranked up 14 wins, with 2 losses by way of knockout. I stopped for uni and gona go back after the summer.

    I realli wana turn pro but down my endz there isnt much hope from promoters who dont care about there fighter and throw you in with killers straight away to fill there own pockets. I sparred with amir khans brother Haroon after losing to him in the second round

    I live in Minnesota and you'd be surprised how active the boxing scene is. 2 promotion companies, msc and seconds out. some good fighters, phil williams, andy kolle, caleb truax, the litzaus, even vanda is still fun to watch. I covered the fights as a writer but am now making a career shift to publicist. wouldnt trade the local boxing scene for a thing.

    boxing is pretty big here i got akron cleve youngs town pittsburgh to their is atleast one pro show a mnth orso

    Yeah being an amateur boxer bout 7&8 years,then done my coaching exams a year and a half ago.I have also just completed my judging exams aswell.I AM INVOLVED:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

    Been covering it locally since 1997 - and have just started travelling a little. St. Louis is a fun place to be at the moment with a couple of world champs and some good prospects in various divisions.

    my local club shut down when i was a kid the nearest club is a 5/10 min drive away so i never really bothered tbh

    I live in North Long Beach, California and I train at Freddie Roach's world famous Wild Card Boxing Club. We have Fortune's gym right down the street. There is a gym in Long Beach called Williams' and they have a guy named Cleveland Ishe who is an absolute MONSTER! So. Cal baby mecca of boxing!

    Yes, The Maywood Boxing Gym and the Azteca Boxing Gym.

    Alfredo Angulo, Giovanny Segura, Urbano Antillon, Charles Huerta, Jesus Soto-Karras, all train there. And sometimes you might run into Vasquez, Margarito, and Abner Mares.
