In a recent interview Roach clearly states that the Mayweather fight was his first choice for Pac, he later goes on to give his reason why he wanted the fight to happen now :bbb.

The first reason he stated was that he thinks Mayweather is SMALL.
The second reason was that he is FRAGILE.
And the third reason he stated was that he hasn't fought in almost 2 YEARS:nono

Lets first tackle Roach's 1st comment on Floyd being smaller than all the other high profile welterweights out there.

This is true Floyd is a naturally smaller man than most of the elite welterweights in Cotto, Margarito, Citron, Mosley.

So Roach would rather match up Manny with someone who wouldnt have a huge physical advantage over him.

CAN ANYONE SEE THE IRONY IN THAT?:deal

The second reason Freddie stated was that he thought Floyd is FRAGILE. What I suggest Roach is most probably reffering to is floyd constant trouble with his brittle hands, and his tendency to pull out of punches during fights due to the fear of breaking his hands again.

Roach however may be also talking about his recent RIB injury which postponed the fight with Marquez, but I doubt this because he had early said in a previous interview that the fight was stopped due to poor ticket sales,
    " SO WHICH IS IT":think

And the third reason for wanting to fight Mayweather now, is due to the fact that Mayweather hasnt fought anyone for 2 years.

Roach clearly sees this as a huge advantage for Manny. And who wouldn't.

But where many critize floyd for not returning to fight the p4p king straight away, many fans claiming he scared and ducking Pac. When in reality couldn't it equally be suggested that Mayweather is being smart, all the advantages Roach wants for Pac he aint gonna get from Mayweather at least not any time soon.

Mayweather had his hand dealt to him by Oscar during their negotiations for their mega fight at 154, an experience that he did not enjoy. He now wants to be on the A side where advantages are all his.

The best thing for fight fans will be for this fight to wait until next year. If Pac truly is the greatest warrior out there, then he can win with no excuses.

Roach seems to want the easy option to fight a ring rusty mayweather now. Is he worried that an in shape, mentally focused mayweather stands a better chance of putting the SUPERMAN myth of PAC to bed.

Wouldn't us fight fans want both men to be at 100 percent when they finally meet up in the squared circle and to finally see who is the best fighter of the last decade?

    :bbb

you're a ****. I'd rather see Pac Mayweather this year than a Pac/Cotto PBF/JMM. Mayweather is just delaying the inevitable...an asswhipping by Pacquiao.

And you forget that Mayweather would NOT be in the driver's seat going into negotiations after Pac demolished Hatton.

You say you would rather see a Pac V Mayweather this year? Why is that because Mayweather been off for 2 years?

Wouldn't it be more rewarded for Pac to beat Mayweather without the ring rust excuse from fans?

Why wouldn't Mayweather be in the drivers seat after Pac beat Hatton? Im hearing Arum saying 50/50 for the fight now. Couple months back Arum said floyd wouldn't even get that. Seems what ever Mayweather is doing has been working thus far as he got Arum down to 50/50 already.

i don't really listen to what trainers say. it's hard to tell what's their actual opinion, what is for hyping, what is for psychological warfare and what's just plain crapping on.

especially now, when trainers seem to have a lot more to do with the hyping of fights (the recent roach-mayweather 'battle' being the most blatant example so far).

anyway, it's a trainer's and manager's job to do what's best for his fighter which for a fighter of pac's stature is to balance money vs legacy vs fighting the best.

i'm a huge pac fan, and a filipino one at that, but, i don't feel he's superman at all. in fact i think he's the most vulnerable of the recent p4p no 1s. you go into a fight thinking he just may be overpowered this time, or outboxed or even exposed - that's why he has so many detractors. but he keeps winning and that's why he's such a great fighters.

    Doesn't it?

floyd was never going to fight a top threat opponent after 2 years off. What so hard to understand? Roach would have liked that because it gave Pac a better chance.

But floyd did the next best thing, he signed to fight a easier fighter in Marquez with the hope of beating Marquez more convincingly that Pac ever did.

Now the problem for Floyd came about when people didn't even give Marquez a 10 percent chance of winning the fight. Yet this was the same guy who had two close fights with PAC.

But the public weren't buying this set up for the potential MEGA FIGHT with PAC.

Mayweather is to good a boxer for his own good.

Mayweather is not in the driver's seat until he conquer's pac's leftovers in JMM.

No because Mayweather has been keeping himself in game shape in his 'retirement'. I call it extended leave of absence. 2 year vacation.

Mayweather is scurrreed. Him announcing a fight a day prior to the Pac/Hatton fight was a ploy to take sparks out of the fight. Unfortunately, it backfired when Pac sent Hatton to wonderland in 2 rounds.

    **** Off you cocks!

If Roach said he wants Mayweather now and not mention that he has been away for 2 years, everyone of you ****ing haters will say

"Oh Roach only wants Mayweather now because he is Rusty!"

Now that Roach admits that he wants Mayweather because he's actually been away for 2 years. You say the ****ing same thing.

Roach can't win, he tries to be honest, yet you haters crucify him for it.

The fact that Mayweather needs people defending his actions with complex, head-scratching arguments on boxing message boards proves that he's not a fan friendly boxer. The only question is why people want to defend an arrogant, loud-mouth bore of a boxer who calls himself "money" and thinks of his fans last?

Mayweather dont need no one to do anything for him on boxing messages boards.

The same way Pac dont need anyone defending his decision to not fight Shane Mosley and fight Cotto instead at a catchweight on message boards.

The same way Margo dont need anyone defending his plea that he didnt know what was in his gloves on these message boards.

They get paid either way. Message boards are for fans of boxing worldwide to discuss topics.

What was complex about the thread?

Roach admits its a good time to fight Mayweather because of his ring rust. Mayweather chooses not to fight Pac yet, not until atleast he has a warm up fight. What so complex about that:patsch

For you to say Mayweather is a bore of a boxer makes me wonder if you ever watch any of his fights? Or do you pic and choose the boring ones to discuss?
