I re-watched the Ali-Norton II fight last night with the sound down as promised, here`s my scorecard.......

    1. Ali
    2. Ali
    3. Ali
    4. Ali
    5. Ali (Close)
    6. Even
    7. Norton (Clear)
    8. Norton (close)
    9. Ali (close)
    10. Norton (close)
    11. Norton (clear)
    12. Ali (clear)

    7-4-1 Ali (no 10-8 rds)

Ps. The ones that say close or even could be argued vice versa... the ones that say clear left no doubt & should not be disputed... & the ones that dont say anything next to them were of the close but clear nature.

I think things are heading in the direction of you being forced to smoke my pole, Conteh.

    Be warned.

Well, i disagree with that card, we saw that fight different ways

you should watch it with sound on, after round 5 Norton yells at Ali "I owned you!" and I think that he was right :D 6th even...???

    peace!

    :yep

Good one, although I have hasten to add that he didn't complain when Angelo Dundee referred to him as "Clay" many times to the press in the lead up to the Jimmy Ellis fight in 1971. ;)

I do n't think he minded per se unless he thought somebody was calling him that to wind him up. I always liked the name Cassius Clay, though.

I'd say General suited you better. This used to be a good place a couple of years ago. Now it's filled with posters whose entire film collection is filled with 'Superbouts' and 'Champions Forever'.

I doubt he was ever bothered, he just had to pretend he was, being one of their 'puppet people' and all.

I usually do watch with the sound but I actually feel that Pacheco **** is terribly biased in favour of Ali & I didnt want his irritating voice in my ear when scoring the fight.

I did feel that rd 5 was the beginning of Ken`s comeback but I felt that Ali controlled the majority of that rd with his jab alone (same as the first 4 rds) & even when Ken forced him to fight, Ali landed plenty of his own to keep his early lead, close rd tho.
Rd 6 was hard to split IMO, each man continually answered the other but Ken had succeeded in making Ali `fight` him.... rd 7 was a big Norton rd... rd 8 was a rd Ali had in the bag thru the first 2 mins but took some big bombs in the last minute, quality over quantity, Nortons rd.
9 & 10 were close with Ali landing more in both rds, only difference was he took too many quality hard shots in rd 10, he didnt take that many in rd 9... rd 9 to Ali & rd 10 to Kenny.
Rd 11 was a big Norton rd, he landed some big bombs & looked the stronger man, his best rd since rd 7.
Rd 12 was Ali`s best rd, he sealed the deal with beautiful combinations throughout in that rd, no doubt who won that one.

Ps. in a fight with close rds, you will always get contrasting scorecards, I did feel Ali deserved this fight tho, especially by closing the show big in the 12th.

The irony of it all was that he had more white people in his entourage than virtually any other black champion. Ali,himself admitted this a few years back.

Champions forever is a good vid, superbouts has too many incomplete fights for my liking, I prefer full fights.

(Now, go smoke Clay`s pole please :good)

I thought Ali took this one. Ali wasn’t at his 60’s best but was at his 70’s best in this fight without a doubt.
    1. 10-9
    2. 10-9
    3. 10-9
    4. 10-9
    5. 9-10
    6. 10-9
    7. 9-10
    8. 9-10
    9. 10-9
    10. 9-10
    11. 9-10
    12. 10-9
    (115-113: 7 to 5 for Ali)
I thought the ref had the fight absolutely spot on imo.
