No but he was pretty good. Wins over Wilfredo Gomez, JC Chavez and Eusebio Pedroza may have helped his cause.
Personally it is up for debate if fighters the calibre of Roy Jones Jr and Ricardo Lopez are Great... Rocky was a very good fighter, who only lost to the very best in his prime years. His bout with Harold Knight was a minor classic that sadly cost Knight a full career in the sport.
No, close but no cigar. I think he beat a faded Gomez and Pedroza (in the first fight). Blowout win over Mayweather, blowout loss to Laporte kinda cancel each other out. I don't know, I just don't think he quite has enough big name wins. He beat a lot of good fighters though.
I don't think so. He has two good official wins against Boza Edwards and Mayweather. Even if he was robbed vs Gomez, I wouldn't give him much credit, as Wilfredo was way past it and above his best weight. All in all, he was good enough to compete with the elite, but most of the time he could never beat them.
Nope, but very good. He'd beat Soto, Linares and Valero though (the few most recent 130lbers I can think of)
Kinda close, but Rocky falls short. The image of him being cold-cocked by LaPorte still rings in my mind.
