Cotto/Pac at 145 or 147 is a great fight either way; won't make a difference

What's all this whining about the catch-weight anyway? If Cotto loses it will not be because of 2 pounds. 145 won't hurt him.

Some think Cotto is complaining too much or something I guess, but you should realize he obviously won't mess this fight up. Remember he does not love his promoter too much over the Margarito scandal so if there are some small troubles in negotiations, this is most likely the source of any such thing.

If a great fight needs a catch-weight to be made because the fighters are in different natural weight classes, so the hell what? As long as it's a realistic weight for each to make I don't see the problem. If it was at 142, 143 or something, then I would take issue with that but it's not.

Some fans cling to every little thing that is said by fighters, trainers, promoters, ect. Are we behind the scenes during these negotiations or either fighter's camps? No, so it's just speculation. The fight won't be any less than 145 and that's good enough for me. Anything over 140 or 147 and under is a WW fight so no reason not to be fighting for a title in this one.

I already see the excuses forming as usual if either fighter loses, which is pathetic. If both guys have went into the ring agreeing on whatever is negotiated, it's all on them if they win or lose. One was simply better than the other that night.

Sure, there are multiple variables to be examined to pick a winner for the fight, but need they be excuses when one loses?

If it was going to make a difference Cotto would have turned it down like he nearly did when they asked for it to happen at 143. Cotto asked for 145 and got it, the belt is on the line too.

Great fight, Pacquiao is all about major/dangerous fights, can't wait to see this and hope we get a clear/fair result.

both fighters will come in great shape. Having the fight at 145 give Cotto a little bit more credit if he wins than fighting Pacquiao at 147. Remember that when Pacquiao fought Oscar at 147, he still tipped the scales at 142.

at 145 Cotto will still be the bigger man, but having to work extra in order to cut that extra weight kind of levels the field.

I hope its a good fight. If Cotto beats Pacqiuao, I will not be disappointed. I will recognize that Cotto is a better 145lb fighter than Pacquiao and better than I thought, and will give him credit for the win. Losing is part of the sport, the important thing imo is that fighters push themselves to the limit. Something that both Pac and Cotto have done many times in their careers.

If Pacquiao beats Cotto as I expect him to, of course i'll be happy since I'm a huge Pac fan. I might be going to Vegas for this fight if I can get some tickets when they go on sale. I was at Cotto's last fight at MSG and it was amazing. PR fans are definately among the best and although I was cheering with them last time, this time I'll be cheering for their man to go down.

With these two fighter's mentalities and styles, and the fact I think the playing field is level enough, this could easily be fight of the year. This will be one of those fights I get lots of anxiety about right before it happens an early on. I just want to see what exactly happens and how each one handles when they get hit flush by the other.

They both hit like mules, and even though Cotto might hit harder, I wonder how he reacts, and Pac too for that matter, because he has barely been hit at these higher weights. I mean I would think he will get hit in this fight, but can he really pull of another fight where he hardly gets hit? He has the speed, but that would be truly insane, and further my interest even more (if that's even possible) of a potential/inevitable Pac/Floyd showdown.

I never made a big deal about the weight.WOuld have had it been @ 142 buh @ 145 with time on his side to manage his weight and not do a crash course weight loss program, then it's all good.He looked find at 146 in his last outing.Besides this catch weight has been done before it's old....posers know ****.I dunno why people claim it's a new phenomena they make it look like Pac is the only one.Is it hate? I think so...

YES IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE Cotto should start starving now 24 hrs a day so he can come in at 145 at fight night instead of 146. He needs all this starving to lose one ****in' pound.

Cotto/Pac @ 145 or 147 will indeed be a great fight. Cotto has plenty of time to adjust to the agreed weight of 145 max. It's not like he only has a few weeks to do it. Cotto will not be weight drained or else he wouldn't have agreed to it (catch weight.)

I really hope the weight makes no difference. If Cotto starts doing the Harlem Shake after Manny's first big shots, I'm going to have my doubts.

It's only a pound less than the Clottey weigh-in. It really should not bother Miguel. My big concern would be for him is that he can be nailed right down the middle and Pac's got that wicked straight left. Miguel better jab all night and not get into the mentality Hatton had. I think he's obviously smarter than that, but he likes to go to war too. Intriguing fight!

starving himself for 24 hrs to make the weight????:patsch its more than 3 months to go and for a young fighter like cotto he has a choice not to suffer that pretty easy. he hadnt encountered any problem/difficulty making 146 in his recent fight with clottey. cutting 1 lb south of it will be chicken.:happy:rasta

That is because he knew Pac wouldn't go for 147.

If it was Cotto's call, he wouldn't be a fool asking the fight to be at 145, he would have it at 147.

it was his call. He went to the table ready to discuss about the catchweight. He wants this fight badly as Pac does. Dont make excuses for Cotto when even he knows he wont be drained.
