What I don't understand is how the WBO can inject themselves into a voluntary fight at a catchweight and force Cotto to put his belt on the line.

I've never heard of an organization forcing themselves into a situation like this and I can see nothing good coming from it if other bodies start to emulate this behavior.

The only way they can do this is if Manny was the mandatory, but if he was the mandatory they would have to fight at the WW limit.

because the WBO is not imposing the catchweight. As far as the WBO is concerned, Cotto and Pac can both come in at 147 on fight night. The agreement to come in at 145 is an agreement between the fighters, something that the WBO did not impose and will not enforce.

hmm says... ok... say hypothetically there is no catchweight and Cotto weighs-in at 145 lbs regardless the 147 limit.... wouldn't the title still be on the line or would ppl still complain for full 147 (want Cotto at exactly 147)? Now imagine if the catchweight was 146 lbs....... wouldn't the title be on the line as well?..................... I swear some ppl on here....................................... Cotto asked for 145 lbs........

hmm says... no... fight would probably never happen and Cotto asked for 145. At 141 I would be lobbying for Cotto to not take the fight in terms of overall advantage. 145 seems fair and realistic...

I think Arum or the Pac camp will pay the bill anyways.

They don't have the best track record when it comes to paying fees, just ask the WBC. If I was Cotto i need that in writing.

btw, who is that in your avatar?

Horse ****! Fighters have been fighting non-title fights within their own division for decades. If it isn't a mandatory, you don't have to put the title up. Somebody is lining some pockets.
