Green lost any ounce of support he once had from me when he retired. It was the whimpiest thing he could have done and he will have to work wonders to get my support back.

In this era of alphabet titles, super champions, interim champions etc; it's getting increasingly difficult to identify the champs from the chumps.

Green & Mundine have done okay, but it's impossible to compare them with Aussies from previous eras who won titles that actually demonstrated that they were the best in the world at the time.

The term 'world champion' has never been more meaningless than it is now. Having said that, the super middle series coming up soon could be a small step back in the right direction.

Pretty much agree with nearly all the poster here . Green has never been the linear champ but his win's over Lucas and his belting of Beyer are noteworthy .

Absolutely Box, credit where it's due.

Judging performances these days has to be more on an opponent-basis than a title-basis.

Agree with everything u say except about Leon. But the fact is to the general public he is. The general public see the belts and think awww he is a world champion and the record books say so too.People who read these forums and follow boxing know that he was well beaten by the weakest SMW champion the second time around and flogged by Mundine but some people will believe his bull**** losing 3kg muscle mass excuses for running up to LHW were he has beaten no one of note until Drews and then retired without once defending his belt because the other LHW belt holders would have flogged him senseless.
When he came back his aim was not to win back his cherrished world title but in a ridiculous publicity stunt he stepped out of a helicopter to challenge Mundine to a fight at LHW before his first fight at MW:patsch.
Its actually quite amusing when you think about it but a bit embarassing when you consider Mundine and Green are our two most high profile boxers.

In 20 years time, Green's legacy will be that he got beat by his rival, Anthony Mundine.
On a world scale, he'll be remembered as the guy that got beat by Markus Beyer.

The fact that he picked up some bogus belts will fly well under the radar to him being beaten by Mundine, and Beyer, and no amount of grotesque nuthugging by yourself will change that.

Interim titles, Regular titles ( when you have a super champ) dont count as real titles if they were they wouldn't have interim or regular before them. The win against drews IMO was a real world title just because his opponent was **** isn't greens fault. There will be a fair few who remember the Mundine loss but on a world stage if anyone remembers him it will be for his WBC win and not his beyer loss

True Cedric. The legit WBA title he won from Drews should be remembered as Green's best acheivement - it's a pity he ditched the belt like a hot spud straight after though!

Be careful Leon before the full wrath of Perthchonk is unleashed upon you. Without their interest Green is finished and unless Adam makes that much-needed comeback, PPV figures will go right through the floor! :nut

What's sad is if Green wins next week he'll claim to be a 3 time world champ, yet a bloke like Paul Briggs unfortunately can't claim anything.

Let's look at it, both beat Drews and only one can claim a world title as a result. Both face world champs in Beyer and Adamek and then rematch the same fighters.

Comparing Adamek and Beyer is laughable, Adamek is one of the most exicting fighters at the moment.

Briggs had 2 close split decision losses to Admek and Green was clearly beaten by Beyer in the second fight.

As far as I'm concerned the only true champ these days in each weight division is either the linear or unified champ (if there is one).

If there is no linear or unified champ, then it's whoever holds more than 1 of the big 3 belts at that weight (WBA, WBC, IBF).

That's it, all the other belts are a joke and are simply money-generating stepping stones for the federations and the fighters respectively.

To answer the OP, no, Green is not a 2 time WC.

And as someone else said on here, it's the opponents faced rather than the belts fought for that impresses me these days.
