Would you rather see it won by someone like Manny, who will not fight the other WWs at the 147 pound limit? Imagine he wins, other WWs challenge him, and he says only at 143 or 145. That's BS - it's their division, he holds the title, but won't fight at the establsihed limit. I would rather see him stay a JR WW.

Cotto wanted it at 145lbs, dont twist it. Its like saying Pac didnt want it at 145 because he's preferred weight is 140lbs. These fighters agreed to fight at 145, Both wanted it, because both wanted to prove something.

I agree with the WBO in one way, but not another. So if Cotto defended against someone outside of the top 100 would they sanction that too?

Nope, that would be grounds for stripping the champ of his title.

What makes you think he's even interested to fight those guys? Pac's about to end his career and there's just 2 fighters i want him to fight before he retires. PBF and JMM. Pac has done his part in boxing.

The WBO want a piece of the action, sanction fees.

If the fees are huge Cotto should consider vacating because:-

    1. He could lose the title anyway.
    2. If he wins this fight he won't need a WBO title.

Perhaps in his case - but boxing will go on. This is going to be the argument everytime a new boxer refuses to fight at a division limit.

Saying he wanted it is twisting it. He agreed to it - there is a difference. Pac wanted 143. Cotto said I can do 145. Pac finally said ok. Agreeing to the weight is different than wanting it. Regardless, I don't think the weight will impact his performance so it's a mute point.

If I was the champ I'd like the option to take a non-title 8 rounder to stay sharp or a non championship fight outside of the weight division.

But Cotto is fighting a superfight within his WBO weight division.

All this fuss over just 2 lbs.

Why not just fight Cotto at WW.

145 is WW. In case you're dumb enough not to realize that.

You guys dont understand... Manny is not rated at 147 and is far from being the mandatory fighter against Cotto, which this enables him to have the option as a non title fight per the rules, unless if negotiated and accepted. Which means Cotto is not obligated to put his title on line esp. when the agreements were alread reach. Now Cotto is not upset at Manny or his team, but with WBO president which interfere and may have cause Cotto some money if you guys think about it with the negotiations. Cotto could have probably got a little more to his pocket, which was probably his intentions eventually putting the belt himself voluntarily. But greedy WBO president jump the gun and wants a guarantee six figure digits to his pockets with the sanction fees and what not better than Manny being involve in this fight. People should just read a little more before opening their mouth with unknown facts and details.
